What are the best one-man-army nations? I like arming troops to the teeth and making them near-indestructible.

Generally speaking, giant nations are fairly good at this from the outset. Niefleheim, Fomoria, Ashdod, Gath, all of these have recruitable thugs that are nearly SCs. With that said, the Mandeha is quite good, as are the angels.

Ponymen nations have great recruitable commanders.

Helheim, for example, has mistformed, soul vortexed thugs.

Yomi is also another great nation for SCs (Dai Oni are really damn scary when properly kitted out).

The BEST one-man-army faction or the OP's purposes (arming single commanders to the teeth and attempting to make them invulnerable) has got to be Hinnom in vanilla Dominions.

Ashdod's recruitable thugs are arguably better due to the extra misc slot, but Hinnom gets the recruitable super thugs plus the Lords of Civilization and it doesn't get much more "one-man-army" than that.

Yet you encouraged me to go with a scales approach to Hinnom in our latest game Peter. Very Sneaky. ;)

I did some testing, one melquart with 2 of the sacred giant units with a 9e8n blessing get absolutely raped by pan's revelers with str of giants and growing fury.

(Fun fact, growing fury insta berserks all unit that can berserk).

Might not even need growing fury.
