Have recently played Marverni to death to get a feel for the basics of the game. Several different builds were used (I enjoyed Forge Lord the most with maxed construction and equipping thugs).
So, for a "next" experience before I jump out into MP (sorta putting it off), what would be a good choice? I'm sure it needs to be a different era and focus...

Since you mentioned you liked equipping thugs what about trying a thug nation? If you want stealth you could try a glamour nation. If you want brute force, then a giant nation. So, how about moving to the MA and trying Eriu (excellent thugs, some forge bonus), Vanheim (good thugs, good forge bonus, blood magic), or Jotunheim (the incredible slicing, dicing skratti, blood magic).

The whole nature/astral/earth effects...communions...basic game play mechanics...
I purposely chose them because I know they are "bland" and slightly underpowered...and being of Human race would be easier to comprehend.:)
If most MP games are set to Mid era maybe something along those lines...blood and death magic? I prefer to expand slowly...maybe a SC blood/death combo blitzer to get me out of a comfort zone...
..maybe I answered my own question by now.:(

A nation with good sacreds. Preferbly one that can can recruit their sacreds even outside the capitol. The best example is probably miclan.

Kailasa is also a bless nation, but a different one. Their sacreds are a lot weaker than the normal bless nations. Some different blesses work for Kailasa that are suboptimal for Miclan for example.
But the definition of bless nation differs a bit for everybody. Some consider Nief a bless nation (as the blue giants and the blue commanders are great) others consider it not something you should invest points in.
Something I think is fun, try niefelheim but only try to use the skrattir. (In SP of course, not in MP). Don't use blue giants.
