View Full Version : PetrifiedGod - 8/8 - Newbie-Intermediate (Winnder Tiavals/Caelum)

Tiavals
September 7th, 2012, 02:39 PM
Game is now over, Caelum won.

-----

Technically anyone is free to join, but I would prefer that people who join are fairly committed to it, not disappearing suddenly, and aren't some sort of super-players that will sweep the floor with everyone else.
So, anyone from Newbie to Intermediate skill is allowed to join. No elites or veterans or whatnot.

Game name: PetrifiedGod(which will be the name in llamaserver once I host it))

The email subject file must be like this: PetrifiedGod

Any and all rules can be modified if people so want. Post and explain why you want something to be different and we'll discuss about it.

As for magic site frequency and all that, it'll be set to default unless someone disagrees.

If you have questions, I'll try to answer them.

Rev: If we are neighbors I hope this turns out better for us than Primordial Cake did!

Our cordial relations got that game off to such a nice start! Unfortunately, it was downhill for Marignon from there...

Who's got you under attack there?

Atlantis for me.

Using CBM 1.92 w/fixes instead of 1.93?

This is partially because I like the summon cost increase mod. Is it included in the 1.93? I haven't checked the changelist for it.

Yes!

This is not a huge release, but it does contain quite a lot of goodies. There are some balance tweaks and bug fixes that the community has been asking for a lot. One of the really big things is that EDM summons have been made harder to summon. Everyone can still have Zmeys if they want, but they're going to have to make a real effort to get them.

And so we have full players.

Does anyone oppose the map or mods I have proposed for the game?

If no one says anything today(about 24h from now), I'll make the game on llamaserver and you can upload your pretenders afterwards.

Oh, in that case we're definitely using 1.93

Might I suggest updating the first post to replace the reference to 1.92 to avoid any potential for confusion (and possibility for restart because someone used the wrong mod to make their pretender)?

Right, didn't realize it said the wrong mod in more than one place.

NOTE FOR EVERYONE:
Use Conceptual Balance Mod 1.93 when making your pretender.

Game has been created!

For now Score Graphs are On, but if you want, I will disable them.

Hopefully 1.93 will be stable and without bugs.

Send your pretenders in!

EDIT:
Seems like there are some stuff that are a bit wrong in 1.93. However, none of them affect the nations in this game, I think, so we should go on anyway.

Austen

I hate to be the problem child here, but I think I am going to need to sit this game out. My wife is in the hospital and things aren't going well and I'm starting a new job and I don't think it makes much sense for me to start any new games right now.

I'm really sorry for being such a nuisance, but I didn't foresee these events when I signed up. I think it prob makes more sense for me to step down now before the game starts than to be a drag on the whole game.

Again, I'm really sorry :(

No Worries mate. Take care of RL first and thanks for being responsible with respect to the game. The only time you are a problem child is playing Helheim!!

Hope all is ok on the health front.

It's most okay Austen. We can always host a new Dom3 game, real life on the other hand doesn't allow loading and such. :)

Perhaps in a few months, a new game will begin where you can join.

We'll be playing with 7 players then, since the game is going to start soon.

Looks like statttis is the only one we're waiting for.

It was a warm spring day that hinted at the summer to come when the caravan from Marignon arrived. In truth it was a rag-tag group that had been harassed on their way by the flyers of Caelum. But arrived they had with a message from their Pretender. It was a plea for aid from the war-mongering flying rats of Caelum.

The Great Nation of Bogarus raised the banners for war and struck out for the Caelum lands. Alas, their was a problem. For some time the evil mages of Caelum had been sending monstrosities in the night to murder the mages of Bogarus. What appeared as an isolated annoyance became a drain on the great nation.

But we fought. We fought well, but there were too many. Slowly the flying rats infiltrated our lands and further whittled us down. A poison Golem arrogantly strutted across our entire lands. Emboldened by this, the lone province that remained of Atlantis struck out and also joined the fray.

Then came the fall day. A hoard of 150 flyers mostly with other evil hidden within. They struck Resting Heights and besieged the great capital while the Bogarussian army stayed inside. Then news came. The other great Bogarussian army killed the Pretender of Atlantis. With this news in hand the young warriors in Resting Heights called for action. They swore not to stay behind the walls while the flyers camped outside. The leaders counciled caution. Let them come to us so that we may have the first strike. So that we can raise battlefield defenses before the missiles come down on us.

But no said the youth and they overtook the leadership and led the great host out of the city walls. To find...

A Trap. The great host of flyers left and alone on the Caelum side stood just 2. A Large Poison Golem stared down the Bogarussian army while a lone evil mage taught in the arts of air and earth and death hid behind him.

It took the clumsy, foolish youth of Bogarus too long to call their spells. Not once, but twice the mage of Caelum brought stones from the sky. Many stones. Too many to count. When it was over, there was nothing left but the tears of widows and the stories to be handed down from generation to generation about the Defeat.

I tip my hat to Caelum. Well played. You whittled me down and got me to make a foolish move. You deserved to win the war. My forces will regroup at our Eastern capital and will bloody the nose of any that strikes at us.

Tiavals

Good to hear that my plan worked. :)

I knew many mages had to be inside with a lot of other people, so sieging it would be foolish. However, knowing that the defender gets the first spell cast, a plan formed with Rain of Stones and a golem as the only siegers. Anyone trying to come out would be destroyed. And so it happened that your army came out with it's unprotected mages. I didn't expect my mage to die, since I had armored him well, or so I thought. But it was a great success none the less.

With your guys casting Fog Warriors, there were precious little tactics to use except Wind of Death and Rain of Stones, once I had researched it.

But it's not over yet, although things do look good.

Okay, so it seems most of the world has been conquered by me by now and that Agartha(the other remaining bigger power) thinks he can't resist me for long.

Tiavals
February 22nd, 2013, 01:43 PM
Yeah, I had far bigger problems than you to deal with, since you weren't attacking me and so on. I was fighting a two front war against Patala and Bogarus a few turns after I had attacked you so I had to withdraw. And I had just recently concluded that war to my satisfaction.

All in all it was a nice game. I was very lucky in the war against Bogarus that my plan worked and the Rain of Stones killed 90% of his mages, had it not been so I'd imagine the war could have gone quite differently. :P

mattyburn7
February 22nd, 2013, 01:45 PM
Very well played and a fun game. Yes. You drew me out nicely. The Kindly ones you casted also was devastating attrition. Bogarus will try never to let them one go so long again!
Great Job.

Great game guys and congratulations to Caelum. For me the Wild Hunt was the most annoying because the wolves would kill about two Ktonian Necromancers each turn. That's part of the reason why I struck at Gath (sorry about that) because I only had 2 castles so I thought i'd take some more from Gath plus I knew I needed the land. The Kindly Ones were no doubt less painful for me then for Bogarus but one of them went after my god quite soon after the spell being cast and then my prophet so that wasn't great. I think my biggest regret was not attacking Caelum with Patala and Bogarus, I should have made peace with Gath and joined the war.

Frankly I was quite surprised you guys didn't pool in together to dispel both of those globals. I assumed it would happen so I had a stack of gems in reserve, but since it never happened, it suited me fine. :)

Okay, I'm closing the game and making myself the official victor then.

Thanks for the game everyone, it was fun.
