I thought I knew the mechanism, and recent tests proved me that I was wrong.
First question is : how does it work ? Does each nature magic level give the unit a % bonus to age limit ? I thought it was 30% (tested in CBM 1.92), then I happened to empower a precious unique hero recently in MP, and noticed a +51% bonus to age limit !

After empowerment

Second question is : Is there a difference between vanilla & CBM about this ?

I see that herr Klaus has fire magic too, which decreases life span. And I have read that death magic also affects old age/afflictions somehow though I cannot remember how at the moment. There might be some odd interference inbetween these... Have you tried empowering someone without D/F?

Possibly the 30% is based on the lifespan before fire magic penalty is applied, making it seem like closer to 50%?
Let's say fire magic reduces by 30% you'd have for example maxage 100 rduced to 70. If a nature pick boosted this based on 100 you'd go back from 70 to 100 which is closer to a 50% increase from 70.
Death magic does not affect lifespan or old age itself, but reduces the chance to get afflictions from old age. So it should not be a factor here.

That could be an explanation, of course.
Does anyone know the real numbers behind this ?
% of old age bonus per nature level ?
% of old age reduction per fire level ?
% of reduced chance to get afflictions per death level ?

If I remember correctly, the standard human goes from 50 to 75 if it has a nature pick, and from 50 to 48 with a fire pick. The 51% could be due to rounding. If I assue a base age of 151, +50% (N) -3% (F) the numbers fit. Not saying, that 3% is accurate.

Only the start and max age is moddable. Percentages influenced by magical levels are not.
