The new patch is out. The Dom3 game might soon be added to auto-update services such as Desura and Steam. The holidays are coming and CyberWeek is here for sales so many people might be getting new computers or new harddrives.

Do you know where your key is?
And is that the only copy of it?

Your Dom3 key is in a plain text file in the dominions3 directory, and the file is named "key". RIGHT NOW there is no excuse for not finding out what your key is and putting it someplace else. Write it in the manual, write it on the mousepad, stick a label someplace and write it there, email it to yourself.

For that matter, you might also want to do that with other keys.
In fact, why dont you have backups of your machine? (sorry, Im required to ask that) :)

This is your key. This is your key on drugs. Any questions?

"Write it in the manual" he says...

page i, it's already written there. Hmmm.

Now, a bigger question is, where is my original disc? I think I lost that years ago!

I think I'm in the same situation as you! If you find the disc, can you let me know where it was, might give me a hint...

A valid concern.

but its not a Windows game. Idont think it does any writes to the registry or anything. The entire game can be copied to a disc, and copied back. Or zipped and saved off. Or it can be copied to a thumb drive as a backup which even plays off the thumb on another machine.

The only reason the original discs are really needed is if you change operating systems between Linux, Windows, Mac so that you suddenly need the other version. And even that can just be asked for since its the serial that protects it.

All this is true, GP. But unless I can find an original disk, I'll never manage to keep hold of it. I get lost in all those copies & sticks :)

Memento's the best film of the last twenty years. Before then there were lots of good movies. Just saying.

Just saw a Japanese film from a couple of years ago last night called 'Confessions' (translated title) - Director Tetsuya Nakashima.

I would rank that movie above Memento. Awesome plot, awesome pacing, awesome atmosphere, interesting characters, and with the signature Japanese attention to detail and that subtle melodrama that they somehow pull off.

Memento had a unique and creative plot, good acting and is just plain cool all the way through, but there are movies out there that have a lot (sometimes more) to offer if you know where to look for them.

(*hint* not in Hollywood)
