I know ya'll are probably getting tired of me asking dumb questions. Here is another one.

I have lost the mapgen editor. In win XP, it was a button in the map editor. I do not have that button in Win 7. Anybody else having this problem?

It's on the SECOND page of the game map editor. Press the > button and it's the button just above the ^ button.

To see if we are on the same page, this is a screenshot of the second page I am looking at.

That's weird.

Here's what I get. "Map gen" fourth from bottom. I have the CD version CamoMapEdit.exe, running on Windows 7.

Mine is free version. Guess that is it. Something they had to take out of free download because of Win7. Loved using it in XP. Thank you.

I have the free version to. It's exactly where Don said it is.

Thanks, troopie. Like my screenshot shows, it is not on mine. I'll uninstall and reinstall and see what happens. If that does not work, I will buy the cd.

Ok, here is what I have found. If I am doing something wrong, let me know.

On the map editor screen, if I hit the comma key, I can enter a batloc number and get a new map. That is all I can do in mapgen. I still can not find a way to enter mapgen.

I have a copy of the free version set up to test and that button shows up just fine but I have XP so we are going to need someone with Win7 to check this

Thank you, DRG.

tjmcs my guess is that you have failed to patch the game to its latest version correctly. Look at the bottom of the main screen when the game has started it should read WinSPMBT v6.0-DL. See the attached screenshot.

Mustang I believe we are talking about the in-game map editor not the CamoMapEdit.exe that is a CD version only feature.

The menu in question here is the second page in the in-game map editor where you can go to the "MAP GENERATOR" and tweak the different values.

Tkank you for all the help, guys. For what ever reason, my issue corrected itself. The third time yesterday I reinstalled it (fourth time overall), it took noticably longer to download the update. So far, so good. Do not know if this has anything to do with it but my internet connection to Shrapnelgames.com was crawling. The entire last download was faster. Thank you again.

Roger.

I downloaded and installed the free version from the Shrapnel website for the sake of it. I'm running Windows 7.

It's not showing up as far as I can tell. Attached are Screen1.jpg and Screen2.jpg, or screens 1 and 2 from the free CD version (not the retail version) of the game.

But it shows up fine in the retail/CD version. RS1 and RS2.jpg show my retail version SPMBT editor screens.

So you downloaded the free version of the game and the update and made sure the update had run correctly and the version number was reported as 6.0 in the main menu of the game and still can not see those buttons?

You see the free game is version 1.0 and it will not show those buttons in the editor since those features were not implemented in that old version of the game. This is why you need to make sure you have also updated the game to its latest version.

Oops. Never downloaded the update.

I'm not reporting it as a problem, just testing. I'll patch and get back.

And everything's okay. The map editor shows up on Windows 7, 6.0 patched DL version.
