Hello,

More than 10 years ago I made a pack of color pictures for SP1 (some of you might know). I've decided to return to this subject and just started to prepare a pack of color pictures for WinSPWW2. Old pictures have been improved, and many new ones appeared. You can read more about new pictures on my page http://derela.republika.pl/colorp1.htm
Numbers and names of changed pictures and details on installation are in a text file in an attached zip file.

I'm attaching the first part, covering most of Germany. Since it requires a lot of work to complete remaining vehicles and other countries, write, if you think it is an useful project.

Regards
Michal Derela

PS. One more thing. The pictures don't affect playing the game in any way, and in some cases they are more correct, than already existing (eg. #065 sIG Ib had a picture of sIG 38). But I'm obliged to put a disclaimer:

"This mod contains highly altered or additional files that will cause interference with the master game files and it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that this mod be installed and played ONLY in a separate copy of the game and NOT run from the master game"

Thank you all for comments and appreciation :)

Now, second part - almost all Germany has been covered. Some pictures will overwrite earlier ones, but they are better or more correct. I hope to improve some in the future.

Note, that updates of WinSPWW2 master files might affect pictures, and therefore all pictures must be installed again in order after applying updates.

In a few days I should finish another part, including corrections caused by version 6.

Part three - almost all USSR and a supplement to Germany after release 6.

It should be installed after my previous files, in alphabetical order. If you had installed previous files, and then upgraded the game to release 6, there's no need to re-install pictures from previous files, just this one.

I hope you'll enjoy. Comments are welcome.

:)

This time, most of Great Britain. I'll try to supplement it - it's hard to find good side views of many British vehicles (especially considering a number of niche armoured cars used). When there is such possibility, note, that early Matilda II is BEF green, while the later one has desert camo ;)
Comments (and constructive criticism) are welcome.

After longer time, most of Great Britain and Poland. I hope to improve some pictures further in the future.

Hi,

so as not to clutter up the other thread, I'll just post the details for the other Yugoslav vehicles, just in case.

Captured vehicles had no changes in colour scheme. Armoured cars and tankettes only had "tenk bataljon" or "NOVH" or "NOVJ" written on them in white paint (NOVH/J stands for "Peoples liberation army of Croatia/Yugoslavia). Captured tanks had a red star on the side of their turret and sometimes on the front hull, sometimes within a white cricle.

Stuarts and AEC armoured cars:

http://stef124.tripod.com/Aec-3.jpg

M3 Scoutcar (if it gets implemented): had no markings from what I can tell. Camo was same as Stuarts.

T-34/85: http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x259/drgasha/DSCF4593.jpg
Sometimes had slogans like "TITO" or "NOVJ" written on it.

BA-64: Identical to Soviet version.

Captured T-34/76 (captured from Germans that is):
http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff84/kru65mi/trieste%201945/t-34_hex_94.jpg

M7 and M8 SP guns: no changes from American colour, only change was to paint the American white star red!

Ustase tanks

Usually followed this scheme:
http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/6282/pz1tranpm3.jpg
http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/577/048ip.jpg

Colour was dark green for most vehicles of French or Italian origin, Panzergrau for those of German origin.
Italian vehicles introduced in 1944 looked more like this: http://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/ww2/italy/Pzkpf_L6-40_ss_polizei_HD.jpg

Thanks. However, only part of the vehicles, without pictures shared with other nations, can receive unique markings. I've already made Stuart with Flakvierling and Pak (they are in the first file - these are my conversions; the one with PAK will get improved).

Link to AEC doesn't work (maybe give a link to a whole page). Haven't you by chance a color sideview of AEC? There are problems with finding good ones.

Ah, I had forgotten about the fact that most of the pictures are shared.

For the AEC, how about this: http://www.miniart-models.com/HQ_IMAGES/BOX/1_35/35155.jpg
-no side view I'm afraid. Only place that I can think of that might have one is SP:WaW

After a more thorough search, this time not limited to Google Images, I've found these gems by a model manufacturer, mentioned by you: :)

This is a shared picture, however.

I use all the .zips of pictures in this thread and appreciate it immensely. I find the game much more enjoyable with color plates and I appreciate you taking the time to find a different picture for variants, i.e. not just a generic T-34/76 photo for all of the T-34s with the 76mm gun. Your work is greatly appreciated, and I look forward to any more photo mods you do in the future.

Now comes almost all Italy and Yugoslavia, and several other supplemented or improved countries (USSR, Poland, UK, Germany).

Some pictures are more correct, than already in the game, eg. 16078 for Italian Fiat 1100 Camioncino (made out of photograph, by the way). I still need a color profile of Fiat Br.3 plane.

All zips should be installed in alphabetical order.

Pibwl, I've just noticed your most recent zip is missing pm00298 and pm00299 (the Stuart FLAK and BA-64) so please correct it...

And thanks for your work.

These should be in some earlier zip (a,b or c). It happens sometimes, that I forget to copy a picture into a zip, though - so thanks for thorough checking and feedback :)

Thanks! I've lost a motivation a bit. Probably I'll wait for a new release (which will overwrite some pictures, and reassign some others, so a special patch to this mod will be needed). After all, I'm thinking about Japan or Sweden..
Feedback is welcome.

At last, a colour patch for version 7 - although this is only the first part as for now, due to a huge number of new pictures in v.7 upgrade. It restores all familiar colour pictures, that were overwritten by photos, but I did not manage to deal with all new photos so far. This file covers most of USA, Italy, Spain, and part of Germany.

There are more infantry support weapons with formations' badges (if you like/don't like the idea, let me know by PM).

Pm30270 is restored as a correct 75mm mle 1897 gun, as appears in the game (its picture has been replaced with 105mm Bourges howitzer in v.7).

Comments (and constructive criticism) are welcome.

Thanks, I didn't know this one (and didn't look closer at the photo). However, it was probably less popular, than plain mle.1897, and is used also by other oobs, like USA. Besides, its color drawings aren't available ;)

(BTW: if you'd accidentally plan some mid-life update of OOBs, than Italian 019 Obice Montagna should have a pic 301. Great work anyway! :))

For oncoming holidays, another file for ver. 7.
It covers almost all Germany (along with a previous file), Finland, USMC, some Britain and other stuff.

Comments are welcome, if you like it (or even if you don't).

You can research, how Finnish sniper rifles differ and why ;)

A new file should be in some two weeks.

By the way: if you installed full patched version WinSPWW2 v.7.11 AFTER my file colorWinSPWW2j.zip (and/or following files k,l,m), then you may have part of new color pictures overwritten. These files should be all installed after 7.11 patch (in alphabetical order). You should have color drawings of all German tanks (which were in "j" file) - if you have photos, then you should install these files again (if you want color drawings naturally ;))

If you want to have color pictures restored after installing v.8 patch, you need to install again (in order) files
colorWinSPWW2j, k, l, m and n - they contain over 700 pictures, that were overwritten by this patch, so I decided not to double them in new files. In a week I should prepare a new file, restoring other pictures, or introducing new ones.

Hi, I just did the latest April upgrade of SPWW2 and noticed all my mod files such as victory icons and such are gone. I am interested in downloading your files and see from this thread a list of files a-n. Should I download and install them individually or do you intend to issue a more consolidated set of files in the future. Thanks for all your great work.

Pibwl
April 23rd, 2015, 11:03 AM
As for now, they need to be installed individually. Sorry for inconvenience, but a single consolidated file would be around 15 MB, and there could be a problem with hosting. Or anybody knows a good free hosting?

In a few days I should finish the first part of newer updates, although it is much more work, then I expected ;) and also I have little free time lately.

Pibwl
April 26th, 2015, 07:21 PM
The first update after v.8 patch - almost all Great Britain, Poland, Spain(s), for the first time Canada, ANZAC, India, and some other older pictures.
Comments are welcome.

PS: Three original black and white photos have been restored.

June 7th, 2015, 06:28 PM
Another file, with Germany, Italy, and for the first time Sweden & Norway. A lot of German photos were re-assigned according to v.8.1 patch, and some were improved since previous releases.

Since there was v.8.1 patch issued in a meantime, if you want to have color pictures restored after installing v.8.1 patch, you need to install again (in order) files: colorWinSPWW2j, k, l, m & o (provided, that you had installed all earlier files in the past, because these files don't cover all color photos).

Have fun!
