When playing a scenario or long campaign is it possible to change the number of turns for a battle?

It seems to me that the number of turns set is often too short to conduct much pre-battle recon. Certainly in a Meeting Engagement surprise is part of the scenario. But if I were to be doing a Deliberate Assault, I would have much more of an idea of what was just on the other side of the line. I'm not thinking of deep recon, but local recon where you send out a few patrols to discover wire, mine fields and some of the enemy positions - the kind of things you would normally expect a unit to have some info on.

With a few more turns, I could perform these actions and make more realistic decisions. Also, recon might be much more useful; at least, for me.

Scenario - what the designer gave you is what you get. Or you can edit it in the scenario editor.

Turns in a generated battle - use the view map button and enter turns as described in the Game Guide "View Map Screen" link, along with the other game parameters described there.

(To read the Game Guide, press the "Read the Game Manual" button on the Help tab of the GameOptions launcher programme).

If you want the element of surprise, then make sure you have zoom on and might use a sheet of paper to mask the other sides deploy when adjusting turns in scenarios;)
