View Full Version : Hedgerow bug?

Just played scenario 88 and saw that hex 37,34 & 16,37 had hedgerow graphics but were listed as clear in the top bar.
Tried now the map editor and the end hex you set for a hedgerow line is always listed as clear, tried making a trench line and that works, second hex is a trench too.
I'm playing version 7.

I played around in the scenario editor a bit.
Looks like the problem only occurs if the hedgerow is exactly two hexes long - if it's longer, the end hex is correct.
There's a similar issue with paved roads - the end hex gets the "paved road" graphic, but is listed as "clear." This is independent of the road's lenght.
Other road types end one hex before the one clicked on - that's a bit counter-intuitive, but not really a problem.
Streams and trenches work as expected.

I just wonder how you do single hexes than, making 2 hexes and clear one of it?
Should all lines be done like clicking on starting hex and clicking one hex further than needed to give a single hex line a direction?
BTW the situation is the same in WinSPWW2.

Well, how else would the game know in which direction the thing is oriented?
I guess that's why roads are set up the way they are...

If you build a hedgerow and it reports being clear simply click on the hex that shows the hedgerow as being "clear" with the Hedgerow feature again and it will be fixed

Thanks but I'm not building any scenarios, I just wonder how the current scenarios with this problem can be fixed, either the graphics or the hex info is correct, they can't be both correct.
I don't have a clue what the designer intended and so someone should check if the graphic is incorrect or if the hex info is incorrect so that whatever causes that glitch can be fixes, or else all scenarios with hedgerows must be check and fixed manually.

The problem is inconseqensial and does not affect game play but I have made a note to correct the problem so that both hexes will show as "hedgerow" when the next patch is released AND I have made a note to look at the code to see why when a two hex hedgerow....and ONLY a two hex hedgerow is built the second hex shows clear.
Given it's rare to find two hex long hedgrows but that sceanrio just happenes to have two of them for reason unknown it's not a burning priority
