This may sound a bit odd, but I wonder if anybody has thought what might happen after 2020? It hit me because I'm at the stage of making a will (in 2020 I shall be 69), and I have quite a collection of reference material (photos, books and my own database) and I can't think of a better home for it than here. Mind you, Andy might have to come to Spain to collect it!

Thoughts welcome

Didn't you know?

The world will end 11:59 PM 31 December 2019.

Well I hope not. I'll have my final Patch Posts to submit for what I hope will make it into the last Patch for the game in ~March 2021. Also and more importantly with all the PITA's,,, :cold: to come etc., it'll be my last chance to get that last strand of Don's hair in our race to baldness!?! :D
I just know I'll provide some of the above, the secret for anyone is not to do it all in the same year!! ;) Like with all these "smilies" which are almost as bad as asking about Trucks in the game. I think now would be a good time to say good night!!

Pat

I'll be seventy in 2020 and have thought about the future and "the game" at that future date. I've been playing Steel Panthers in it's many iterations since the beginning and figure to be doing so as long as I have a computer, a game CD and some level of awareness.
Like you Richard, I've got tons of military history books and upon my passing would like to see it put to good use once I'm gone though I think my kids will just toss it. Oh well!
Thank you for the thoughtful slightly melancholy letter Richard.
It's good to know other people kind of reflect on this stuff now and then. To me it's a testament to Andy and all the wonderful people who have made Steel Panthers in its current form the best version ever. I look forward to more to come. I hope!

Nice one Paderborn. Would be nice to hear from Andy and/or balding Don :>)

@Suhiir - hope not, I still feel as though I have a few years left past then.

I bet much of the material would also be helpful for many other strategy games, I wonder if there is a more "open place" to put these treasures.

Well,Maybe we all should stop worrying if MBT is currently %100 updated with all the gizmos that may be actual or not until athenticated. and may be just a glint in some fools eye:rolleyes:
Let not get too far of ahead of reality.
Remembering theres alot of stuff to be looked at before 2013 as well:D

In my response to Richard I wasn't delving into specifics such as futuristic "gizmos" or their "authenticity" concerning the game though it may have come across that way. My comments were intended to be narrower and mostly were intended to kind of bemoan the likely fate of my treasured (by me) military history resources while agreeing with Richard that something worthwhile might be done with some or all of these materials at some future date. Sorry for the confusion.
