I want to design a map that appears in the picture. Is access to Sloviank west.
Any suggestions where to start?
The map would have 160 hexes wide (8 km) by 120 height (6 Km). The red box is the perimeter corresponding to the map you want to do.
I have no problem with making roads and people. I suggest that field?
The actual map has a height of 60 meters above sea level with two elevations of approximately 170 m in the upper left corner and bottom right corner.
The map is for a battle or perhaps later a scenario where Ukrainian troops attempt to occupy the west Sloviank access. They should tap Bylvasivka neighborhoods and Krasnoarmiis'ke.
Thanks

You might want to try the downloadable file with instrucions (http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showpost.php?p=824325&postcount=10), as a place to get started.

If you like we could collaborate on this project. What are the coordinates from Google Earth? Maybe there are others who would like to give it a try as well.

Thanks friend. I have tried this method only once. I'll try again. But I need a file (hgt) with the exact map, and I do not know how to locate the file.
The coordinates are:
48 ° 50'11 .20 "N, 37 ° 29'0 .67" E
I upload a file from google earth I hope it can serve.
I'm not very good at making scenarios so if anyone wants to take the project, will be welcome, I can learn.

Regards

Since I learned to find the hgt files. They are on this page.

With only Microdem terrain heights is configured. The rest should be done by hand? roads, towns, forests, etc?

Upload a picture of a map made to "hand". No Microdem.

I showed them to map lacks many details, as you have seen.
With Microdem, heights alone.

It is looking good Roman. Question: how did you estimate land elevation, height of hills, and surrounding terrain?

Thanks for the correct address for the SRTMS files, http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/.

The heights I took from google maps. Obviously I made a approximate calculation.
In Google maps height above sea level is taken. To make the map in SP took the lowest level as zero and "eyeball" do heights.
I do not rule out using microdem. Surely I must learn to use it better

Prototype scenario:
A mechanized task force wants to enter Sloviank the west.
Two companies of militia with anti tank and anti air weapons must stop its passage.
questions:
That forces both sides to suggest?
As you see the map?
I accept suggestions

I upload map and scenario

Scenario corrected.
Oche Thank you for making me see that the paved roads had high density. That happened because I built buildings on the routes.
I made a change to the troops as well.

Roman,

I have the Ukrainians using a force as follows:

Ground element
1. Wheeled Mechanized Inf Company +
2. SP Mortars
3. SP AA
4. Tank Pl
5. Recce Pl

Air element
1. Atk Helo section
2. Atk Helo formation x4 with commandos on board

Need to specify mission in terms of Victory Objectives, such as:
1. Secure government building(s)
2. Secure roadway
3. Clear AO of militia

Mission objectives will help drive the force needed and the OPFOR as well.

IMHO

Roman,

I have thought the Ukrainians would use a force as follows:

Land component
1. Mechanized Inf Company

Hi Shahadi. Thanks for answer.
One company?
Maybe if Ukraine is to the human side.
I thought that the separatists are to play a human.
You think?
The best side for human is attacking or defending?
In the scenario I want to make the difference in number of troops for the Ukrainians. For that i think than human should play separatist side. Is more difficult :o

I don't know Roman, that is your call which side is human player. I was thinking the attacking force as the human side.

As I understand what you want, the difference in troops Ukraine, then the attacking force needs a larger force to prevail against a defender, and that force in my mind should be played by the human. However, a compelling game could be made with the human as the militia. It is your call buddy.

I had not seen the entire above message.

Ukrainians objectives of the mission are:
1) Ensure access from the west Sloviank.
2) Clean the area of separatist forces.
Bylvasivka is a neighborhood or town that is west of Sloviank. Take Bylvasivka involves having a bridgehead to enter Sloviank, so it should be cleared of enemy forces.

The aim of separatists:
1) Avoid infiltration and settlement of Ukrainian forces in Bylvasivka.

I've noticed two drawbacks. The surname and forenames green side, are Latino. Guns are the western side.
To fix this I bought Ukrainian and Russian troops. Now I have ak74 and Ukrainian names.
I made a new deployment.
