Reason I ask if there's any chance of this is that it would be incredibly convenient for me to have both SP titles on Steam; even if I had to re-purchase them.

There's a way you can kind of get this. Google is currently offering 100 GB of GDrive space for about $1.99/mo; and that's more than enough for a lot of stuff.
