How do you stop units removing mines other than changing facing?

The only units that remove mines when facing a hex filled with them are engineering units. Any infantry units that remove mines will have to be inside the hex I believe? Anyone more knowledgeable about this please correct me.

I always avoid this problem by placing minefields on either side of razor wire and keeping at least 50 meters between my dug-in infantry and the mine belt.

Yes, only engineering units (engineer, engineer support squad, commando engineer, engineer tank, mineclear tank etc.) remove mines from adjacent hexes.

So simply not placing your engineering units next to such defenses tends to go a long way towards preventing the problem in the first place.

I should have said engineers. So the answer appears to be no. Not placing engineers next to defences is not always a option.

I think I might be getting my games mixed up again. I do remember a toggle on a unit info screen for mines clearing/laying.

Yes, there is a certain other SP-based game that has such a toggle, but it is not this game.

In any case, I am not fond of placing mines right in front of my own positions - I prefer placing them somewhat farther ahead.

That said, lately I haven't been very fond of employing mines - they are just not very interesting to use against AI in the long run. And in campaign games enemy vehicles lost to minefields don't reap any kills for my core units. I am still very fond of the dragons teeth, however - they are handy for channelling enemy vehicles into where I want them to be.

Second time I've done that. Thanks.
