I have a question on this unit. Most descriptions I have seen say a company has 3 platoons, with each platoon formed from 3 sections.

In the game in 2017 the company has 3 platoons, with each platoon formed from 4 sections (3 rifle and 1 support).

Are the support sections here drawn from the support platoon with each para battalion or is something else represented?

British platoons have 3 rifle sections and an HQ/Support section usually.

HQ section has the commander's team (including radiomen), Pl Sgt, 2in Mortar team (or extra LMG sometimes), A/T team.

Rifle sections have a gun group and a rifle group - in some OOBs as separate elements, but most have unitary sections in SP organisations.

So 4 sections in British infantry platoons, till the 1980s when the 2 fire team org appears with the SA-80 weapon system.

I am playing in 2017. Do they still use the 4th platoon?

The paras use the same org from 46 to 2025 - 1 heavy (support/HQ section and 3 rifle sections. 3 platoons per coy - 4 platoons was last used in WW1 AFAIR.

In Mobhack - Para coy is #28 and platoon #40 on the formations page.
