View Full Version : Problem with Warning on Immobilizing Terrain

If a vehicle wants to enter a rough-slope/building hex, while there's already a friendly unit on that hex e.g infantry, it must use the Shift key to do so. But pressing the Shift key and clicking on that hex will only show the warning ("Enter yes/no?") very briefly before it vanishes. No time to input anything. Sometimes it will show up, but only if the button & click are pressed with accurate timing.
I have only just encountered this while playing Scenario 17: South of Beirut.

I will look into that.

Sorry this is so close to release. I guess I have a knack for (unintentionally) bothering people.

It may be fixable before release - it may not be. We will see.

The thing to remember is that warning was designed to stop the AI from plowing through a building ( or rough ) when you ask it to make a long move between point A and point B and it's pathfinding routine gets confused and gives up and tries to take the shortest route.......when it tries to do that you get the warning message if it "discovers" a building or rough in it's path.
It was NOT designed to warn you when you are trying to deliberately enter a building or rough using the shift key ......so it's not really not working properly. The only time this is an issue is when a player deliberately aims at a hex with a building or rough

I see. But with the current problem it is nigh impossible to enter such hexes when there's already friendlies in there.

I just crashed a tank into a building.... rubbled it turning it into a rough hole then moved another tank in there as well without a problem.
Maybe you need to post an example of what you are referring to

A rubble/hole is not immobilizing terrain, like rough slope or buildings are. In your example the building is already destroyed by the first vehicle. Try that scenario 17, and deliberately ram one of the tanks into the building occupied by infantry.

Yes but a rubbled building is rough

Well that begs the question " why would you want to crash your own tank through a building your own infantry occupies ?":D
??
That is not particularly healthy for your troops...
But if you REALLY think you need to do you can click on the hex directly on the other side of the building those PBI are in and it will ( usually ) ask you the question and you can say yes and you can crash your tank into the building

A building that collapses has a chance of damaging any soft squishy stuff in it, whether that collapse was as a result of artillery, or a "friend" driving into it. It's not a favour to any grunts that happen to have bricks fall on them:hurt:.

Andy has now corrected this and the fix is in both of the updates.....players wishing to enter a building hex that contains another of their units will now get the full delay on that Y/N message

Thank you!
I was thinking in a chaos of battle, there may arise the need to enter rough-slope terrain with friendlies (tanks, inf, etc) already there is more likely than entering building.
Cheers!
