As anyone ever experienced a situation where the game just shuts down on you while playing?

Not really.
The only issue I am having sometimes is that the keyboard may "freeze" at times and I cannot continue to next turn or quit the game (since you need to verify with a y press) and I have to exit the game with a right click on the game's tab and exit manually. It happens more rarely in this patch though, it was more frequent in the previous one.

I've also experienced the keyboard lock-up on rare occasions (like maybe once a year). But never a shutdown or blue screen of death that I can recall.

Here is ( in part ) the report we are dealing with and if anyone has any ideas as to why this might be happening please feel free to share. FYI we suspected his anti-virus but he has reported the same thing happens when it is turned off
I've completly unstalled the game.
Then re-install it in this folder: C:\Games\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPWW2.
After that, I've upload and installed the patch: winSPWW2 V12 Upgrade (2019).
Then I've put my saved scenarios in this folder: C:\Games\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPWW2\Saved Games and continued my play.
After exactly 30mn the game shut down without any message: it freezes and then shuts down and disappears!
To be sure of the reaction of the game, I've NOT saved during this half hour.
I have thought perhaps this might be an issue with the old saved games but he reported that the game worked OK as a DL version of WW2 but now he reports the DL version of MBT does the same thing

Very rarely, maybe 2-3 times a year, and I'm usually playing daily. For me, it seems to happen in the map editor of all things, but when I'm modifying or messing around with the maps that have come with the game, or that I've downloaded from this site. And usually the big 200x160 maps. But since I'm not a map editor expert, it may be something I'm doing. It's never repeatable, and I'm playing on an 8 year old Toshiba laptop, so it may be I just need a newer computer :D

On rare occasions it locks up, no idea if it’s the actual game or some process running that interfered as not often enough to be an issue.

Dumb question DRG, but did he apply all the patches in the correct order?
Your quote only showed one.
I have version one of both games and have to apply 4-5 patches.

I have had a VERY occasional lock-up (thought it was my machine) but never had the game CTD / shutdown.
I have had MobHack crash but only when I have had 4+ versions / OOBs open at once.

It would appear that he has
The enhanced is V10.01-CD - 21 Feb 2017. I've uploaded all the patches until the last : V12 (2019).
So, with or wothout upload, the game sut down.
I am convinced it is not the game per se but how it interacts with his system but the fly in that ointment is he says the same thing happens with a notebook
I've tried to play the same games, same version, on a notebook: shut down again!
and, of course, he is the only one who has reported this happening

Still reckon it’s a driver issue or process interfering with it, does he have some same programs on both - same virus checker - download a free task manager to log processes and see if something starts when it shuts down. Blow by blow what directory is it in - which patches were applied.

I am having the issue Aeraa mentioned, the game (SPWW2) stops responding to keyboard, then to the mouse. Game is fully patched and vanilla (no mods applied). I had suspected outside interference since I have had numerous issues in the past. The laptop I use does not connect to the internet, and I have taken pains to kill wi-fi and bluetooth.

Happens to me once in blue moon, hardly ever, though every computer program on the face of the earth does it once in a while.

Not on spww2 but my spwaw does that, the fix in that game was to turn off sound or go to a clean install of desktop with no prgrams running in the background. For me it usually happened around turn 7 or 8 as slow as I am that might be a half hour.
Don't know if this helps.

Not at all, since that is another game from a different developer that is coded completely differently. We have nothing to do with it - see the Matrix games boards for any help on that particular game.

Had this happen last night. Version 16, using Borderless Gaming.
