Please check the sound file for the HK-21 LMG used by Portuguese mech squads.
It currently sounds like a Sci-fi ray gun.
Using the 2020 patch.

This is because the weapon sound is set to #250 - there is not a 250.wav in the sound directory so it defaults to the "laser gun" sound.
Change the sound box for the LMG weapon line on the unit's mobhack entry to 0 and you will get a generic LMG firing sound.

It's been like that for over 2 years so I guess we know how often Portugal is played.:shock:
It'll be easier to just add a sound 250. The weapon is set up for zero but there are 29 units with it set to 250
Here is what to do...it's easy...it's what I'm doing and what will be if we issue another update of the game
Goto the Game Data/Sound folder
Find Sound.INI and scroll down until you find
sound250="Null.WAV"-----CHANGE THAT TO sound250="250.WAV" and SAVE
Now scroll up until you find 55.WAV......55.WAV is not used as a sound file. If 55 is entered into the game it uses
sound055="G3 machine gun.WAV"
Change 55.WAV to 250.WAV and you are done

:haha: The 'Sci-fi ray gun' sound made my day (thx RetLT). It wouldn't surprise if further claims of hearing some other weird sounds start to pour in from using rarely played countries, but as long as these sound issues can be addressed there is no problem there in the long run, right? :pc::fire:

Thanks DGR about tips. I didn't discovered same error before this but it's great to fix it anyway...

Happened to me too years ago. Don't think I finished that battle, as it pretty much ruined the game. Hope it gets fixed before I use the Portuguese Army again. Well, thanks for reminding me as I forgot all about it.

I only discovered it playing SAS Troop's new scenario 516 which features the Portuguese.

The fix I suggested means no OOB's are altered in any way which won't affect PBEM since 250 is already entered into the OOB and sound 55 is not doing anything anyway and just happens to be a LMG sound FX.
win-win and it's simple for anyone to do

250 was my mistake, it was in my PC, and I did the OOB.
It’s a fantastic scenario and a didn’t knew
I was an NCO on 4th Cavalry Regiment of the Mechanized Brigade and we were trained to be deployed to Northern Italy and Eastern Turkey. The Portuguese Territorial formations were to mobilise and support the Spanish Army in the Pirineus mountains
There was also the Portuguese Light Paratrooper Brigade committed to Northern Italy.
The BMI had:
Tank Bn with 54 M48A5 (3 in HQ and 17 in each 3 Sqns)
Recon Sqn with Hy Mortar Pl (4 M106+1 M557) and 3x Recon Pl
Each Recon Pl (1 M113 HQ+ 2 M48A5+ 1 M113 w/Rifleman+ Scouts w/2 M113 & 2 M113TOW)
1 Mech Bn with M113 (3 Rifle Coys + 1 Support Coy)
Each Rifle Coy had 2 M113TOW + 3 M125 in a Support Pl
Each support Coy had 6 M113TOW + 4 M106 + Recon Pl (Scouts w/8 M113+2 M113TOW)
2 Motor Bns with similar weapons on M151 MUTT and Unimog 1300/Mercedes 1222
Artillery Group w/18 M101A1 + 6 M109A5
AA 4 Chaparral+2 Radars+ Trucks with 4x12,7mm SP
Motor Engineer Coy w/4x Sapper Pls
No V150, AML60, Ferret, MILAN, Blowpipe etc..
They had 100% establishment of men & equipment, were ready to be deployed by train to Italy or by the Navy to Turkey. They were the Strategic Reserve of the AFSOUTH
Their annual exercises were “DENSE CROP”, “WINTER CIMEX, “DISPLAY DETERMINATION” e “DRAGON HAMMER” e “DYNAMIC MIX” e “ARDENT GROUND” with 400 men deployed to Italy. There they used Italian weapons and vehicles.
During “DISPLAY DETERMINATION 87” we deployed a full Mechanised Coy with their vehicles to Italy.

Extract this to your Game Data / Sounds folder in MBT ( MBT ONLY...)
