In 1815, the British Army tried to conquer Nepal, but it was easily defeated by Nepal's warriors: the Gurkhas. So the British officers decided that, if they couldn't beat them, they'd get the Gurkhas to join them. A peace agreement ceased all British conquest in Nepal, and the Gurkhas agreed to be recruited into the Crown's military.

Ten compelling stories; however, Popular Mechanics won't sway me. Is it not true, have we not seen with our own eyes the maxim, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."

These guys are tough when I was 16 they were stationed near me & I witnessed a few things that made me think heck don't mess with them.
Had a standing game try sneaking up on a Gurkha - never managed it even if they were dozing.

The competition they hold in Nepal just to be permitted to apply is near insane. Those that actually get into the army really are the best of the best.
