Anybody know what a Download Service is? It costs $4.95. I have no idea what it does. Sounds important, but it doesn't make any sense. I seen it for sale at the Gamers Front Store, listed with all the other games that's on sale. Never even heard of this before. For the life of me, I can't figure out what it does.

Its a Shrapnel thing, so ask them and not us?
(Though I vaguely think that it allows you to redownload a fesh copy of the game installer if you manage to lose your own copy somehow, like after a computer crash say?)
They have thier own help lines - not sure if its a forum elswhere on thier notice boards, or they may have an email address to contact them through.
We are the Camo Workshop - we just make and fix our game. Shrapnel are the publishers and run the forums, handle the sales and assocciated stuff. Which this service is, for many game makers and not just ourselves. So you need to ask them exactly what the benefits of the service are, as it aint anything to do with us, at least directly.
Try asking at the shrapnel general forum - or read the posts as someone else may have asked the same question perhaps.

The explanation is here
https://www.gamersfront.com/store/reset_download_service.html
The Gamers Front Reset Download Service allows registered users to reset their download period to 10 days.
User accounts that qualify for the service are:
Premium Account
Military Account
Student Account
Classified Account (subscription)
Elite Account (subscription)
Elite Plus Account (subscription)
Just add the service to any downloadable game whose download period has expired.
NOTE: The Extended Download Service is not restriction free. You are not allowed unlimited downloads. Limits will automatically go into effect if the system determines that you are abusing the download service. Please be aware that you should archive your game download. Doing this makes this service unnecessary.
So if you DL the game and save a copy in a safe place ( WHICH SHOULD BE SOP ) you don't need it

My only thought is I picked up the CD's decades ago, and then I copied the CD's files (the setup msi/or exes) into my Dropbox account. Then I saved a few of the first upgraders up on my DB account and just go through the cycle if I need to reinstall using those.
Over at Matrix Games, you create a free account and when you buy a game you can always access your account page to download for free the games you purchases. Same with the Steam app and Steam account.
Food for thought.

Oh, the same for the WDS games, you create a free account when you purchase the games they have and then you can go into your account and download the install files for your games for free. This is all pretty standard.
