A whish, long campaign with rumania

I am playing a generated campaign with Rumania vs URSS. It has been a glad surprise discover that rumanian troops aren't that bad and they can stand versus soviet hordes.

The worst is the lack of anti-tank weapons at infantry level. BTW Rumanian tanks are fine, at least versus earlier soviet tanks, and infantry keeps the ground a bit more than their contra parts.

The big surprise has become my third battle, a delay mission, soviets launched an offensive with 77 tanks, mainly bt2, bt7, t26, even a kv1.

AI tank heavy is set to off, but still the proportion of tank vs infantry seems big. Not sure if it will become a rule or when they start to use more advance (and expensive) units their number will go down.

Anyway it is really challenge, since Rumania played a very active role in WW2 it will be glad having a Long Campaign option like Poland, China, etc.

TIA

In a delay the AI gets 2.5 or 3 times your points value (forget the exact ratio). And in that period of the war, the Russians are low experience, hence cheaper. And BT and T-26 are rather cheap items in any case.

Soviet infantry has a problem with lack of platoon-level AT weapons in the early part of the Great Patriotic War as well. But the Romanians don't seem to have any ATW other than in specialist AT teams - which do not seem to be part of the rifle companies... I might look into a few variants of the heavy rifle section that turns up in 41 or so, with an AT weapon instead of the SMG line perhaps. (Captured PTRD and perhaps panzerfaust later).

As for a long campaign - perhaps I might look into that. Romania mainly figures in as a 'soft option' opponent for the USSR Long Campaign at the moment. Otherwise I think it gets generic Southern USSR and Caucasus batlocs.

Cheers
Andy

Sorry to post in a wrong site, I didn't notice this subforum.

Yep, you are right, they didn't have ATW in their rifle companies, from Sergeant Manole Zamfir War memories it seems they deal with enemy tanks mostly with Molotov cocktails:

"As for the anti-tank weapons, the situation was even worst. The grenades were ineffective and they had no mines or special AT weapons. They used Molotov cocktails, with pretty good results. Tank crews surrendered after their tank started to burn"

So perhaps adding the molotov as 4 weapon slot to some infantry squad isn't historically inaccurate. BTW I wasn't complaining, just wanted to comment their (IMHO) main weakness.
