Man The BUGS are Abound

Recently reinstalled to play again and was amazed at how many bugs are still present in the game. From the alt tab crash bug, to accidental selling of cargo meant for mission wouldn't void the mission, and if you bought it back and tried to deliver it to destination, quest would not resolve until time out date in which results in your failing the assignment. This game really was kind cool but these bugs really really ruined it.

If you play in windowed mode you can use alt-tab ok. I play windowed mode mostly since I am making a starfury mod and need to flip around the pc a lot. As far as the other bugs I am not sure. A starfury II would sure be cool. Even though I play a lot of newer games, I guess I am old-school and really enjoy the Starfury game. I love the components concept with this game and easy modability.

I am terrible with modeling the ships but am good with modding the files. I am making a Stargate-Starfury mod with eta couple months or less till ready. I could sure use some Stargate ships (Gou'ald, Wraith, etc) to get it looking better. I am making an new engaging story with so much new stuff to mention so it should be a lot of fun when done.

I like the game and feel that it is a solid game in its genera. I have installed it on my nephews PC for them to play. To bad they are 10 and cannot comprehend what they can barely read. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/frown.gif (Genetics, their mother is an idiot. DBS to 10th power.)

It would have been great if there was a voice reading the text to them. But I guess if they want to play, they are going to have to invest the brain matter and read.

Not likely going to happen. They also have their Dad's gene's, and laziness is his holly grail.

No wonder the PC gaming industry, not to mention just about every form of entertainment these days, has viciously down graded the intelligence of their products and have mass marketed their new "dumbed down" versions to the lowest common denominator of human intelligence.

If the retard, bread burned, drug addict will play it, watch it, or buy it, then its a marketable product by industry standards these days.

I know what you mean. A lot of people are attracted to the "tricked out" graphics games. I enjoy some as well but also enjoy just good plain strategy games as well. My oldest kid is 8 years old and enjoys playing starfury as well as other games. He actually asked me to make a starfury mod. It wasn't hard to convince me though since I really like this game. ha. I was introduced to starfury at the request of my older brother who was my "stragegy game-playing brother" that I played games with when I was growing up. He told me about it for about a year or more till I finally broke down and bought the 1.17 version CD. This game has been a lot of fun and an engaging outlet for my modding.

This is pretty much my story of how and why I play Starfury.

What I enjoy most about this game is that it is a lot of fun when the action comes. Sure having more missions to do and what not would be great, a multiplayer element would have been fricking awesome, (SF2) and an expansion pack would have been greatly received by fans. This is just a great example of a small pc game designer making a good game. Your lucky you have someone to play with, the best I can do these days are a couple of 10 year olds trying to get 5 year old computers to run modern games... lag doesn't even begin to describe the cross OS networking issues and crash fests that have ensued. They love to send message to each other about what they can do if their peace offers. LOL.

I play in windowed mode so I can have the #spaceempires IRC channel visible http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Nothing like having an audience to tell your stories to as they happen.
Also makes the game harder, as you have to type quickly, or during quiet runs across a system. And definitely try to avoid following the bad advice from the back seat captains http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Aaron really should consider an expansion pack for this game, or make a new version.

If you could port an SE5 save game into a Star Fury game, that would be very exciting!

Yea an expansion pack or new version would be really cool. Definately multi-player would bring this game to a whole new level. I have come up with a lot of modifications to my mod that I have thought up myself. I am sure I am not the first though such as escort destroyers, Planets that fire back with ground defenses, exploding planets and asteroids after taking enough wep damage. I will probably not implement all of this in my mod as it takes time to configure all planets and what not but just key strategic ones.

I kind of have fun blasting the asteroids to dust insteading of dodging them all the time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

Multiplayer would make this a damn find game in my humble opinion.
