Demo Problem

Okay, I heard about this company and games in the recent issue of PC Gamer (which I love). So I decided to try some games out. I downloaded Star Fury because it looked cool.

I installed it with no problems, but when I ran it. It just showed me a black screen. I alt-tabed to see what was up and it shot me back to my desktop. I went back to program and it worked fine. So I get ready to start the game. Input a ship name and captain name and it loads up to 100%. But then I hear a beep and it all goes black and stays that way. I had to shut it down from the power twice because I couldn't get anything to work after the beep and blackout.

Here's my settings and such.

Windows XP With current patches, etc.
P4 1.8ghz
786 Mb Ram
Radeon 9600 Pro with Current Drivers
DirectX 9
My moniter was set on 800/600. But it swticed to a larger screen when I started the game up.

Iam surprised the demo doesn't work at all on my system and I don't see anyone else with this problem. Perhaps Iam just unlucky? heh But, if anyone can help. Please do so. Thanks.

Re: Demo Problem

This sounds like an early problem that I had during beta. The cause of my problem was my soundcard (SBLive Value!) I found a 'patch' on the creative site and that fixed the problem.

You don't mention what soundcard you have. It might be worth searching to see if there are any updated drivers for it.

I know it's not much, but I hope this helps.

Cheers! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Thanks!! That worked! I didn't think sound cards/drivers were so important. Thanks for proving me wrong. Just glad to have this thing fixed on my system.
