Re: Server Wishlist (command line options)

OK this thread has been compacted and posted as a new thread on the new official forums.
Please add any new suggestions for Server things or for Command Switch things (like changing defaults in your desktop shortcut) over on that thread from now on.

Conversation of course can still happen here if you want. But if you want the devs to see a new request it is best to do it there.

I plan to also do the same soon for the Mappers Wishlist, and for the SingleAge mod.

OK I will continue trying to get Desura to work the way I want. Other than various timeout screens, it also will not allow me to reply to my own thread. Everytime I try, it appends it to my previous post. I have a post in the support forum asking if there is a way. I promise, I WILL continue trying to get these into the OFFICIAL thread.

Until then I dont want to lose these, and I want to make it easy for people to quote/reply. So some new thoughts that have popped up since I started thinking about this again....

And now to add one....

There is an #ally command for maps but it only works on making allies of AI (computer opponents).
It would be great if we could get an
--ally <nbr> <nbr>

And even better yet if it would work between AI and Human players. That would allow some interesting games.

But even more from the server aspect it would be great for team games if setting --ally 1 2 meant that team members would not have to fear their partner going AI

===========
and on the same subject, since CoE3 got a --noturnintoai switch, can we get one also? I scripted something to keep players from being able to go AI in games on my server so that the person running the game could find a sub or turn them AI based on the game admins decision. But a switch might be nice.

Re: Server Wishlist (command line options)

The future chances of Dom3 as portable gaming comes up a lot. And gaming from work in general gets dicussed a lot. Something I notice often in IRC are comments such as "when I get home and check my turn". They are able to IRC with their phone, but not check their turns.

Could we get a text output of the players messages?
-- msgs

early_marverni.2h
early_helheim.2h

early_marverni.trn
early_helheim.trn

early_marverni.msg
early_helheim.msg

I can see many uses. The first being that making those accessible for webviewing by the player would provide a nice feature so that they can comment in IRC on their turns, and plan their next strategy at work (disclaimer: not responsible for firings). Also the server could roll them numerically as I do the scoreboards and stats
http://game.dom3minions.com/games/MusicalChairs/
so that players could keep track of previous messages sent (another common request).

Or include it with emails of turn notifications which would do both. Allow seeing results at work, and provide backups of in-game messaging.

Maybe even have a fatherland.msg file for all messages that go out globally.
