No sound effects
 

Hello,

I haven't played in 6-8 months, but all of a sudden I can't hear any sound anymore.

I have the CD version updated at the last patch.

Could you please help me?

The first thing to check is your preferences that you have Sound Volume turned up and that Sound Effects is turned on

The next thing - have you turned sound off in Windows, has your sound speaker's volume been physically switched off (if it has a separate dial like mine does). And has the jack fallen out the back of the computer?.

If it worked before and does not now, then something has changed in your hardware or settings in the meantime.

I don't know about windows 10, but in Windows 8.1 volume mixer there are sound levels per program. Make sure that isn't too low/muted either.

I know I don't write here too often, so you don't know me, but do you really think that someone would open a thread on sound effects only to discover that the volume is "volutarily" turned off (in the game or outside it)?

Sound and FX at the maximum level,
Windows sound is okay (I'm listening to music while typing),
Sound Mixer for single programs is okay (I run on Win 8.1), I could play the sounds .WAV from "Game Data/Sound" outside of the game.

Just for info,
Until today I haven't played since installing the new patch,
no new sound and no new "aware" changes of PC settings,
it seems that the program could not open WMP or the files.
