How can I change the starting game year?

I would like to mod SE5 so that I can have year one as the starting year, and also so that the turn year increment is one year per turn instead of one tenth of a year per turn. Can this be done? I looked in settings.txt and didn't see anything in there that would effect the starting year or the turn year increment, nor did I see any other data folders that looked like they would cover either of those things.

Well of course as soon as I submitted my post I found the value in settings.txt that changes the starting game year.

//---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Game Date := 24000

The turn year increment is still one tenth of a year when I set the date to 1, but at least I can set the starting year.

There's a field in Settings.txt called "Game Time Rate Multiplier" or somesuch - I think if you set that to 10, then the turns will increment one year per turn, but I've never tried it http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

I tried that and it had no effect. I'm thinking maybe it effects what things cost at different stages of the game, but that's just a guess. It doesn't do anything to the turn year increment though.

Strange, well, I sent an email to Malfador about the issue...

That setting doesn't effect the game date, but rather the rate at which the system animations occur.

Yep, that's what Aaron said http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...ies/tongue.gif

Well thanks for trying anyway! At least I'm able to change the starting date. I can always pretend the decimal point isn't there. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

but remember that building like atmospheric modification plant use true years, so what is called 5 years are 50 turns...
