Show ID Numbers On/Off not turning off?

Per the manual:

Quote:

Show ID Numbers- Sets the game to show the unit and formation numbers in the game. Generally this is for OOB designers use, but it is very useful for reporting bugs to the design team, as you can then say "Unit 123 - Sherman V" which will point us to the exact unit in question, especially if there are several Sherman V's in that OOB.

I like seeing this feature and my understanding was that it showed things like F0-PL or E3 or N5 when it was turned on and by turning it off you would not see E3 or N5.

Am I misunderstanding this?

Or is it say I should see E3-0323?

In either case I don't see it turn completely off (still see E3 or D0-PL) and not seeing F3-0321.

?

Show ID numbers is there to tell you the correct formation or unit number (as it is known in Mobhack) to you without having to go into Mobhack.

The formation number is shown in the formation part of the buy screen and then when you go into the formation buy, the ID numbers for each prospetive unit is shown alongside that one.

I thought it was shown (the unit database ID number anyway) in the encyclopaedia, but apparently not - that would be a useful addition.

It can be useful for end user error reporting, rather than having him learn mobhack if he is not so inclined.

I find it useful in the German OOB - I look up the sort of formation I want using the database search utility in mobhack (search for formations of class inf-at) - find the formation ID number, and then swap back to the game and scroll through the infantry looking for (say) formation 41 rather than trying to pick out an Infantrgswverttrpenfart or whatever composite mouthful of German is the formation name !

The Formation ID numbers you are probably getting confused with are the formation ID letters (GH02 etc). That is on by default for users of the full game, and I usually never turn it off as it's extremely handy. I think the F3 key toggles that one.

Excellent on both points Andy. Yes, I use the normal formation ID Letters all the time (D1, D3, etc.) my opponent wants to shut it off on his end I'll pass the info along (the F3 key), personally I enjoy seeing B0-PL etc... but I am going to try the other ID for looking stuff up, at best I am a mobhack hack lol, and had trouble the other day selecting some Japanese forces without spending an hour clicking on each platoon to see what the weapons types were.

So I popped into MBT and did F3 that tries to rally a unit. The in game help says use the K key but that did not do anything. Same in WW2, F3 is rally and K key does not seem to work like it says it supposed, unless I am missing something.

Again, personally I wont play with out the ID's (B3, D3, etc.). Like the ID showing up in the pick screens though...

It may be the numeric 3 key - I haven't switched it off in like years.

It's not the 3 key its the 5 key. I'll pass it on to my opponent. I don't know why he wants it off, but whatever.

Thanks man.

Note you may need to update the game guide and also the in game help. The in game help says its the 'k' key, the guide doesn't say, but its really the '5' key.

Its one of those weird things that I think new folks that played the free game freakout when they come to the CD game and see the F0-PL and F1, F2 etc.

Been playing on the CD for so long I don't even recall it not being on and it seems odd not to see it.
