Installation

When I first installed WinSPWW2 and WinSPMBT I mistakenly used the default "Program Files." In trying to correct this I just pulled the game folder out of Program Files and put it into its own folder. Is this OK? Thanks much.

It does not matter where you put it, or how many different installs of the entire system you put on your machine (e.g. multiple installs for mods). It does not use the Windows Registry system.

You may have to manually change the path on any shortcuts, though.

Of course - that only applies to Windows XP or earlier (No idea what happens on macs or linux).

If you have the vista/Windows 7 things on your machine, rather than XP or earlier then you should completely reinstall the games to a folder away from the \program files\ hierarchy to avoid that behaviour. Copying would not work then, since Vista/W7 randomly places files in strange places outside the desired folder hierarchy it seems.

I cannot confirm that since none of the development staff have downgraded from XP to Vista/Vista 7 as yet, hence why they are not officially supported operating systems. But users who have those O/Ss have reported that sort of thing happening. It may have something to do with whatever you were logged in as (user or administrator). So make sure you are logged in as the exact same user account when patching, as you originally installed the game in. Administrator account would probably be best for all installs, is my guesstimate :)!.

Re: Installation

Vista 32 behaves itself, it's only the 64 bit versions that are a a little strange.

And even Microsoft dropped XP a while ago... ;)
