is there a way to turn a commander into a troop ?

Say i have a commander,that i want as a normal troop,can i demote him somehow.I know i can use gift of reason to turn a troop into a commander,but is ther a way to do the opposite ?

Yes, but it is complex. You need to master enslave it. Or use another mind control method that transforms them into troops. The problem with this method. Only works on enemies.
