Ask about forum advertising

Hello Don and Andy::)
I am writing to ask you if it is normal that for a couple of days whenever I click on a link in this forum, pirate-type and even pornographic ads appear to me, and I have become very uncomfortable. I ask this this to know if it is a change of the forum or is from my computer that may be infected. Thanks in advance and continue with this magnificent project, it is incredible. Best regards and a big hug: Jorge:)

Hiya - Don & Andy don't provide this forum - probably best to post in Shrapnel General http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=14

However fwiw I see NO ads whatsoever and I am pretty sure no reputable company would allow unsavoury adverts or pirate-type ads. My assumption would be to look first at your own machine's security.

Good Luck!

Sounds like your computer needs a real good clean out checking for and cleaning out any malware.

Malwarebytes is a handy free utility that sorts this sort of problem - here is the wiki page, which has a link to their home page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malwarebytes_(software)

The free one is something I use from time to time if I think somethings wrong that my AV has not caught.

Spybot is another one:

I also have used the free version occasionally - its a bit "clunkier" than Malwarebytes, especially for updating its definitions.

cheers
Andy

Thank you all for responding so quickly. Windows Defender has completely scanned the computer and detected two Trojans. I am convinced and your answers that these ads came from those viruses. Anyway I have also installed in Google chrome an anti-pornography and anti-ads program and the truth is that I am very happy. It works whenever I search the internet. Thank you very much with all my heart. Andy, Scorpio and Don, take care of yourself: Your friend Jorge:):up::up:.
