Easy Game Ballance - wihtout a mod
 
If you want to make the game a lot more enjoyable and interesting, adapt the following rule.

Since folding and hyperspace take time to recharge from, you cannot avoid combat (except for Space Hulks, which can't pursue). If you jump into a system and combat occurs, you have to resolve it.

So, how will you handle this - you can...

1) Get a detector to tell what systems are occupied.
2) Make sure you can fight your way out of darn-near anything.
3) Keep a spare drive handy to putter into systems that have ships. This way, once you get a look at the radar return, you can putter back out.

Purists might point out that if you have a hyperdrive AND a Zorg navigator, perhaps you could fold in and hyperspace out, if you chose to break away. Up to your interpretation, I guess.

I know this game is pretty old and not many posts are being made. If anything, I'm leaving this for those who might follow. I'll tell you the truth, I adapted this and it make the game a lot more fun!

Having said this, let me addendum it -

Also, if the race asks you to leave, you can push out to the far end of the solar system, charge up, and jump.

I mean, they asked, right?
