Realm of Many Tomatoes (97+14)

Here's yet an another map. I considered making it a wraparound with harbor pairs on the edge of the image file, but I didn't really know what that'd do that this setup doesn't. Like the description says, all three harbours are connected to each other and rivers (or they're more like straits but whatever) connect water provinces.

To prevent any confusion about my maps in general, I'd like to clarify that you may use my maps for absolutely anything, as long as you don't claim it's completely your work. I personally don't claim it's completely mine either anyway, as the graphics (still) are ripped from Cradle of Dominion by Jason Lutes. That said, I'll gladly supply a multi layered GIMP image of any map I've got such an image of for modification/graphics ripping/whatever on request.

I'd also like to get information on people's multiplayer experiences on my maps. I'd like to know what to improve, since the only real thing I've noticed and tried to fix in newer maps are too large amounts of special terrain hindering movement.

Oh yeah, and use the maps at your own peril. They're not very tested before some of you tests them.

I personally won't link to Dominions 3 content made by me any more and I hope no-one else will either (old links are fine, whatever). You should be able to find them or most of them by asking on IRC or googling the other forums

3-4 players with 100 provinces? Egads.

Looks great for 6-9 players though.

I might request some more maps reasonably sized for 4 players (minimal ocean provinces, <= 60 land provinces).

For large maps, wrap-around is nice because no one ends up in a corner. This leads to situations where someone has no option but to attack a particular player, really constraining diplomatic negotiations.

Agreed (though this map should prevent anyone being in a corner as it's pretty much a ring). The thing is, I personally don't like too open wraparounds as that'll lead to everyone being everyone's neighbour unless the map is really big with huge number of players.

Excellent map. And I agree that it would make a great 4 player game (about 25 prov each). It would work for more of course that tends to affect my favorite nations in ways I dont like.
Thanks for the map.

Elmokki

I would really like to see an 'islands map'.

Various flavors there of - if you work on another map.

Islands would be a good way to make fair starting conditions. Ie., each island would have 4 neighbors for example.

Also, it could ameliorate the usual water problem of too many land neighbors for each water province.

You could have a couple of 'holes' of deeper water, where water nations would start.

Finally, differnt versions could have a different number of provinces per island.

I'd suggest one version with 5 provinces per island. One with 9
(two provinces suitable for forts). And maybe 15 or so.

No similar maps exist. It would give incentive for people to play some of the lesser played water nations. It would give reason for land nations to get into water, and ease water nations transition to land perhaps.

Also, has little value in most games - this could rectify that.
You may wish to make the neighbors 3 neighbors links + one sailing link.

Anyway .02~!

I assume you mean sailing has little value? otherwise I'm failing the implication test.

Thanks elmokki for this interesting map.

We decided to use it for the largest italian game of Dom3 to date.

I uploaded the map on llamaserver but I had to change the name of the tga reference in the map file because it had different capitalization than the filename and it created problems with llamaserver. On a side note, I think this should be added to the llamaserver FAQ because the map works perfectly in game, but it gave problems when trying to upload it. (probably as Kestrel said, it's because Linux care about case)

I'll let you know if we find any oddities! :)
