Amphibious Vehicles and Streams

Does amphibious capability better enable vehicles to cross streams? Reason I ask is 'cuz in a France vs Sovs scenario (#137--Against the Red Flood) the Mephisto ATGMs and AMX tanks which tried to cross a mid-map stream got stuck most of the time. Thanks.

Sorry if this has been already covered somewhere but couldn't find anything in various searches or the GG.

Re: Amphibious Vehicles and Streams

Amphibious vehicles are just as susceptible to mud, rough terrain, and stream embankments as any other vehicle.

Their advantage lies in that they can cross "deep water".

They MAY be less susceptible to "shallow water" but you'd have to ask Don/Andy.

Don't forget you can only safely cross rivers at the special tiles (I forget their name now, but they look like small passageways in the dirt) and that in low speed. If you try to cross rivers at other tiles and/or at high speed, you are asking for trouble.

Re: Amphibious Vehicles and Streams

Fords are the safer spots to cross streams at. Fords cost less MP to cross and are less likely to get you stuck.

The sticking chance is more if your vehicle has expended MP before trying to cross (i.e. are going faster) so try to cross a stream or ford as the first thing you do in a turn. In other words, stop by the water and cross it next turn if you can.
