Galaxy Battles

I was looking at the home page, and saw that a game title Galaxy Battles is coming out this year. Does anyone know anything about this game?

Do you mean "Galley Battles"?

Oops, must have had SEIV on my mind. Sounds better than Galley Battles, though. Either way, does anyone know any thing about it?

Galley Battles?

Sure, there have been some nice articles with the designers, e.g. at The Wargamer .

Also there is a forum for it here on the Shrapnel forums. See Hyperborea Studios section.

It's a cool-looking naval wargame about ancient naval warfare with galleys that ram, board, and shoot at each other as used in Ancient Greek/Roman times.

Interesting Spanish developers.

Ok, thanks for the info. Don't know if I'll get it; I'm more iron men and wooden ships myself. Might check out Salvo one of these days, though.

I like both periods. If you've never tried galleys, I'd recommend at least checking out the demo if/when it arrives. Galley warfare tends to be sort of half-naval, half melee combat, with some ranged combat thrown in. Lots of options for diverse situations and tactics. I've had a lot of fun boardgaming galley warfare but good games on it are rarer than age of sail wargames (most I've played was Ramspeed, by Metagaming, circa 1985), and if this one is released in good form, it looks to me like it could be quite nice.
