Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet 2.0 - Jul 2014

1 Attachment(s)
Here's the 2.0 version of my Hot Keys Quick Reference Sheet.

It's universal, so should print on one page in A4 or letter size. it also includes the new 'C' hot key.

If there's any I've missed, please let me know.

It's attached to this post

cheers,

I dont think Shrapnel has a "merchandise" shop anymore. Or if the game developer wants one I can help him out with it.

Otherwise I could always put this on something for sale. Personally I always thought coffee mugs were perfect for keypress charts to help out on those late night gaming sessions. :)

Re: Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet

All this is in the in game help and in the GG though , admitidly, not on a file you can print out and hold in your hand.

I'll make this a sticky so more people can find it

Re: Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet

Thanks Don,

I found the V-Hex toggle hot key:\

The Game Guide appears to have V as the V-hex toggle, but it's correct in the in-game Help screen.

V Replays oppponents turn

The Game Guide and Help screen shows < and > as hot keys for turning on and off V-hexes and Map Text. But map text is M and V-hexes are \ as mentioned before.

Lastly, there's three 'hot keys' which I don't think are mentioned in the GG or Help screen:
J - Clipboard
^ - Rally point
} - Unit view of all around LOS hexes

I updated the excel download with the V-hex hot key, and moved the C into the Deploy Only section.

cheers,
Cross

Very Helpful, found something I didn't know before. Thanks Cross!

But I am not sure about the Q key in playing phase. I don't have the game with me now, but I am pretty sure that Q key in playing phase is "quit the current game and go to saved game", not end turn. There is no hot key for end of turn, IIRC.

Re: Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet

Sorry guys. I checked the "Q" hotkey. It IS "end of turn". Maybe I need some memory-enhancing pills.

No you don't need pills, just a handy Hot Key quick reference sheet...or perhaps a Shrapnel Games coffee mug with SP 'hot keys' printed on it :D

One of the reasons I decided to make this - apart from my own limited memory - was a long time SP player (at the Blitz wargaming club) wasn't aware that you could manually control Smoke Dischargers  Then another guy said he only found out about them because he went to Fire at a tank, missed the 'F' key and accidently pressed the 'D' key

I didn't know until recently that you could turn off smoke dischargers (just like weapons) preserving SD ammo and keeping them from firing at inopportune moments.

Re: Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet

I just realised that I haven't found a hotkey for turning on/off the hex grid.

Does anyone know if it exists?

If it doesn't, this may be a useful one for a future update.

Cross

Re: Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet

It doesn't in the current version but in the next one the '.' ( period ) key will turn the hex grid on and off while playing the game

Also, you have under "Deployment Phase Only" that

". (dot) Set game length in turns ......."

It's PURCHASE Phase for that particular hot key not deployment and player 1 gets to do it. I have corrected the game and game guild help screens for that . That was written before the view map screen was added as I recall

Thanks Don,

I can see the Hex Grid on/off being one of the more useful 'hotkeys'.

I'll update my quick reference sheet and upload it again, when I get the chance.

OK, I updated the quick reference sheet.

I made one for 'letter' and one for A4 paper size, so they'll print on one page. I uploaded them to the original post.

Found another one:

1 PBEM Security Information (Loads & Quits should be equal. Fails can indicate technical problems or cheating)

I'll update the spread sheet and upload it when I get a chance.

Re: Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet

Here's another:

Z then R Blast Circles on/off (Can also use B then R. Shows max blast radius only. Known units damaged circled in yellow)

This is useful once in a while to get a better idea of the effectiveness of artillery and MGs.

I'll update the Quick Reference Sheet later.

Re: Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet

I love the new hex grid on/off Hot Key. I prefer to play with hex grid off - as I can read the map better, especially the contour lines - and I quickly got used to moving units around without the hex grid. But I need to briefly turn it on once in while to help me count hexes to a suspected hidden ATk gun or MG; so the Hot Key works great, thanks guys.

In a similar way, I prefer to play with the ID Flags off. But it would be nice to just hit a button to briefly turn them on to double check units, that I've not missed someone; without having to go into preferences, turn ID flags on, back to the game, then back to Preferences again to turn ID flags off.

On a related topic for those interested, there's a cool ID flag mod, that makes the ID flags smaller and puts them over the top of units (which makes sense to me). Found here:

http://spwaw.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9463

NB. Although the above site is mainly for SPWaW, there is a small SPWW2 area, and the flag mod is for SPWW2.

cheers,
Cross

Strangely the sequence for half the maximum range is not "Y,H", but "Y,X".

Thanx Cross, for all your hard work:)

Is there not a Shift>@ function to bail crews?

Also the period (.)turning on and off hex grid still needs to be changed:)

British keyboard layout differs from the US. ;)
This should be useful reading:

Both of those Hot Keys have been included on the Quick Reference Sheets for over 3 years.

They are also listed on the OP.

Re: Hot Keys - Quick Reference Sheet

Hi
Can the list please be updated with the changes from patch 6.0?

For example C is now this:
***
Non-vehicle units with 2 or more MP remaining can now voluntarily take cover to break enemy line of sight at a cost of 2MP by pressing the ‘ C ‘ key. Taking cover especially if close to the enemy is not a guarantee that they will break LOS.
***

Not sure what other changes where made.

I added the C key to version 2.0.

See the OP to download.
