Laser Guided Zuni Rocket?

I know MBDA developed and tested a laser guided variant of the 5in Zuni rocket between 2010-2014 (basically a version of BAEs 70mm APKWS). But can find no information about it's actual adoption/deployment.

Maybe the "Powers That Be" decided such a system was redundant since we have the APKWS

Re: Laser Guided Zuni Rocket?

I had posted on this many years back when I was pushing to get the BAE APKWS/APKWS II in the game. Simply the MBDA Guided ZUNI lost to BAE.

To the point that the rocket isn't even offered on the MBDA website. And there is a reason for this...
"MBDA has three major aerospace shareholders: Airbus (37.5%), BAE Systems (37.5%), and Leonardo Finmeccanica (25%)."
https://mbdainc.com/about/mbda-worldwide/

Click on "MBDA's Product Lineup" button Bottom/Center/Right.

You'll also note MEADS is no longer listed as well.

It's all simple economics MBDA was a conglomerate formed based on international collaboration in part by BAE and many others in 2001 until only the three from above were "left standing" by "swallowing up" the other companies themselves by 2006.

They took out the redundancy is all.

Pat
