Modern IFVs

Anybody else noticed they seem far mor dangerous since the 4.5 patch.
Might just be the fact doing present day battles recently but seems to me.

More have AP or APCR ammo & some have a bigger loadout making it usable.

Having a giro & ATGM makes a huge diffrence you can now move slightly letting you crawl & fire or importantly move 1 hex if you fluffed the LOS rather than going ohh hell.

Small change but makes a huge diffrence on the battlefield.

Recent battle my tanks were scared to come out & play big IFV battle kicked off with missiles flying everywhere & the cannons making short work of anything that made it much under a Km. Also if they happen to have a grenade launcher area effect means troops are in big trouble.

These vehicles cause a world of hurt now really was tanks protecting them from tanks while they hit everything else & infantry mopped up the remains & provided eyes

I love this game it just keeps geting better if you are not playing a major power your tanks need to treat taxis with some respect now.

Try to use less than expensive MBTs against them. Their weak armour is their downfall :)

I was hence the IFV on IFV battle tanks were trying to keep clear if you are not one of the big players there armour will not stand up to an ATGM well either but tanks are still the best thing to attack with as more manevourable. Mad few turns with 20-30 ATGMs criss crossing the battlefield & huge dolops of lead in the form of cannon fire meaning if you survive cant hit squat as suppresed.
Because they can move even if only a couple of hexes tanks have to be wary they now have an ambush capability they never had. Can move to the crest or treeline & take that flank shot now. Before they were easy meat could take the shot move so out of LOS & be safe now they can risk moving to retaliate so its a much more fluid situation. They did not make effective overwatch vehicles because of the loss of shot if moved now they can jiggle for position a bit so you cant just move out of LOS & say I am pretty safe.

Re: Modern IFVs

Well, you better find a new strategy then. :-p

The thing about cheap tanks is that they usualy have better chances of hitting a an armoured target, so if you buy cheap tanks that can be even half or more the price of a modern IFV, you could just make his a very bad day.
Of course, use your artillery/air units for suppression as you would against inf ATGM units to help you.
Don't just send in your tanks first without a care in the world.

anything with decent FC/RF/Stabilizer is now dangerous to tanks, during play, the tactic that worked pretty well was to have FOs with arty laser and gps so they can call arty faster and some medium/heavy arty, anything over 122 should be enough to damage most sp atgm or atgm equiped A/IFV (bradleys and russians)
