"Random Events" Game Setting

What do we set this to? I believe the default is "common" rather than "rare". If I turn it to "rare", can't I then (better) afford to take Misfortune scales for an "unfair" advantage at SP? Is this set to one alternative in MP?

Common is the default MP setting since people already favor misfortune, so why exacerbate that? SP is SP, do what you want.
