Poll : Do we need more campaigns ?

I like them - in general, not necessarily all those included. And those I like, I've played too much already.

So I'm longing for new ones ... do you, too?

Just voted on the poll with basically the "whatever" choice. I like to generate my own and rarely play the "set piece" ones. But as long as there is room for them I would encourage anyone with the "tech" smarts (Not me I'm more a "vision" guy!) to carry on! These are the things that keep the game fresh and provide additional options especially, since we don't know what will happen just before or after 2020.

Pat

Given only a ( very ) few people have the time and patience to create a full blown campaign capable of fulfilling your requirments ( and you don't seem to be one of them ) I'd have to say when someone does create a new campaign worth adding to the game I will add it. I do know that there is at least one new campaign in the works but when that will be ready is something I doubt even the designer could be sure of

I love the Generated Campaigns, the map generator is fantastic, and it allows for more customization. The Generated maps are very well done and realistic, unlike many map generators I've seen. Don't see how you could run out of things to do in generated campaigns, as you have nearly 100 countries to work with and hundreds default battle locations for different pairings of countries. You can even edit the V-hexes before each battle, or generate a new map under your own parameters....plenty of options.

I do understand the need for more historical campaigns though.

Of course we would like more campaigns!
Considering how much labor goes into creating one.
It takes a very dedicated person to create one
We should appreciate the ones we have and applaude those how gave:)

even though generated campaigns have no limit in what you can get, a human designed one can be more interesting at times

I play the scenarios more than the campaigns. Either way more of both keep this game fresh and interesting. I look forward to ANY new improvements in SPMBT every patch. This game has the potential to be the greatest strategy game ever created.

I really enjoy the campaigns. I've played parts of the Marines in Pusan, The Mexican Drug war and the Philoppino rebellion (can't remember the name right now). I also have at least one generated campaign going at all times. I enjoy the challange of finding a good core, or working with a slightly lopsided core. I also like seeing what others have done and the challange that comes from not being able to pick your own units. The historian in me loves the stories that people build into their campaigns and seeing how they'll unfold. The more the merrier!

I've been toying with the idea of creating a scenario called "Operation Barack," dealing with the final destruction of OBL and his bodyguard unit by US forces. Basically a small feel-good scenario. Company-sized, because large scenarios are just too time-consuming [for me] to play.

A while back I was working on a scenario dealing with a battle between Syrian and Lebanese militia forces during the Syrian deployment to that country in the 1970s-80s. The Syrian recon unit was ambushed and badly handled, and Syrian President Asad was very unhappy. I forget the exact details but it is described in a book I have, "Conflict and Violence in Lebanon," by Walid Khalidi. A fascinating conflict.

There are several very good books by Arab scholars on Syria's Lebanese adventure.
