Well, that's another game ruined

Once again, another exciting game has been ruined (for me) by some ridiculous OpFire success. A tank - engaged to the front, buttoned, in smoke - has spun around on a slowly advancing tank at a distance of 50yards, beaten him to the punch, hit him full frontal and destroyed him.

Not particularly amusing, totally unrealistic (IMHO), and a total game changer - situation-wise. Total hokum. If there's one thing CD customers should expect fixed, it's this (again IMHO).:mad::mad:

I'm done.

Game save file made? What OOB's and tanks and TI/GSR did they have (Because it could be a unit issue of some sort.) to save time as well. Against AI or PBEM game? For anything to be fixed more information is needed. It's the only way if there's a problem to get it resolved. Along with that comes a little patience. No game will EVER be perfect all any of us can do is report it, get it looked into and wait on the solution. Not a knock AT ALL, but if there is an issue it affects every player out here just take a moment to remember that before you or anyone else walks away out of pure frustration. It's Mothers Day after all a time to relax and reflect!?! ;)

Regards,
Pat

Remove that & you remove a lot of oh heck moments, & was it totally unrealistic?

Engaging what infantry, was the commander aware tanks are coming from that area. Had they been seen before the smoke? Moving objects are a lot easier to see in smoke than stationary ones so its just a case of could he traverse the turret quick enough to get off the shot first. How far did he move last turn, guessing not far so he was being cautious to.
If you wanted a dead cert you should have buttoned the tank to retreat status or been gamey & used all its shots. Even then there is a very remote chance it may recover if fired on again.
No need to go that far judging when a unit is suppressed enough to get away with a move like that is part of the game & sometimes you get it wrong.
He wasn't suppressed enough & was most likely slow moving but is now wide open to his original attackers who I assume are infantry & can put an RPG up his tailpipe.
If no one is capable of doing so then current threat has been neutralised so hes taking on the next one.

Its what makes this game, expect the unexpected its war anything can happen & you need to adapt when it all goes wrong or indeed very right & its time to exploit it.

Get it right vs a fast moving suppressed vehicle & you can run an armoured car up to it at speed for a near point blank shot to the rear without a reaction or with a turret turn at most.

:) In real life sometimes 2 +2 is not 4.

I can't begin to talk about all the WTF moments I've had playing this game. That's one of the things that make it interesting! Like real war it's not all about equipment quality + training + experience + morale ... sometimes dumb luck or makes all the difference.

Think about the battle of Midway.
To a large extent the US won only because a Japanese float plane got off to a late start and had a malfunctioning radio.
And I doubt anyone would argue was the pivotal naval engagement of WW II in the Pacific.

Look, if it really bothers you and you are not doing multiplayer, you can always reload from your save and see if you can get an "appeal".

Well, some want their shiny toys to last unscathed until the end,it don't happen that way all the time in this game, you get beat up a little sometimes depending on your skills or just plain bad luck.
You may lose some gear but that's the way in RL also.
I don't think the AI is all that hard to beat IMHO.

This game has taught me that a 95% chance to hit is not a 100% chance to hit. It has also taught me that an overeager engineer with a satchel charge makes for some WTF moments. I'd like to know who thought it was a good idea to give satchel charges and flamethrowers to engineers anyhow.

Sometimes stuff just happens. Embrace the suck.
