ABBREX - The Abbreviation Expander Extension

1 Attachment(s)
Hello fellow Dominions players. I would like to introduce you my new Firefox/Chrome extension: ABBREX - The Abbreviation Expander.

Even though this is not a mod or Dom3-only utility specifically, it applies to all gaming forums (especially strategy games like Dominions) so I wanted to post about it here.

What it does is when you visit any web page (forum etc.) it automatically finds abbreviations on that page and adds on-hover tooltips showing the meaning of them.

This includes generic abbreviations like LOL, OP, etc. as well as very specific abbreviations only meaningful in the context of a game like Dominions.

ABBREX's back-end abbreviation database is completely community-driven so even for obscure and very specific abbreviations like CBM, AN, SoAP, etc. as long as someone enters the meaning, everybody benefits from it when they visit the Shrapnel forums for example.

I built it because I see many obscure abbreviations on gaming forums I don't know the meaning for (especially if I am new to a game) and you can't exactly go to Wikipedia for abbreviations that specific.
That being said, it is also useful for all kinds of generic abbreviations.

Below is a screenshot of me surfing the mod forum here with the CBM tooltip. You can also see a demo (without even installing it) here: http://abbrex.com

Using it is as simple as installing the extension (either Firefox or Chrome) and simply surfing the web. You don't need to do anything: ABBREX will work automatically and unobtrusively behind the scenes.
You can (if you want) also take a more active role and enter some abbreviation meanings (very easily right from the extension) while you're at it for the benefit of the community.

Please check it out and let me know what you think. I hope you find it useful. I am open to all questions, feedback, and ideas.

Thank you.
