Troops, drones, fighters and hard-code
 
In settings.txt and a number of the other files there are references to Fighters, drones and troops.

The only problem is unit types aren't fixed any more! When I add a new unit type- how do I know which built-in settings refer to it, if any? Will my Heavy Troops improve happyness? Will my Missiles use up supply and explode like a drone? etc.

Or do these lines only refer to the stock types?

From my experience they only refer to stock types. No built-in settings( except those that refer to 'units' in general) will affect your new units, at least none that I've discovered thus far( if it did then stuff like un-launched satellites would improve happiness as well, something I haven't seen). Which means it's probably impossible to get new units to act like some of the old ones, too.
