Would you drive a 50 ton tank across this bridge?

Historically, bridges were often a limit for the use of heavy tanks. In the game, any bridge will hold any tank, which I think is rather generous. It would be nice if secondary road bridges had a risk of collapsing under heavy vehicles.

Then the AI will happily charge Mausen over a wobbly wood bridge and lose them all.

AI coding is not at all easy. "Kewl" features that would work for humans require loads and loads of AI spaghetti, that will still leave it subject to any "gotchas" that the programmer never envisioned, or that some scenario designer neglected to allow for, or whatever. Say - a scenario with an impassable river in the middle with 1 wood bridge. AI stomps over with a maus, exit bridge, no way for the remaining mausen or any other non-swimming unit to cross. Human player would keep the behemoths on his side of the river, half-brained AI will lemming the objectives.

It's a game not a simulation. Human players could honour that so that wooden bridges are off limits to heavy tanks but the coding required to ensure there are no "gotchas" is not worth the time and effort to do and even if we did somebody would want a preference control to turn it off .... and for what? Not much in the way of "game enjoyment"

You *may* be the second..maybe third person AFAIK that has questioned that in the past 20 years
