Let's Play 1989 USSR vs NATO

I just started a "let's Play" of this game on my youtube channel.
I am going to play as the USSR "attacking" Germany/USA/UK in a 1989 generated campaign.
If anyone wants to have a look, feel free, the playlist is at

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...cBQLXERoYpmq5s

As I haven't played the game in some time now, I am very rusty. Don't expect a victory or good strategies. This is going to be more of a test to see if I can do a let's play of this game.
Commentary is going to suck even more.

If you have a problem with me posting such a link, please remove it.

If the link is removed, if anyone wants to check my channel search for it "trusteft"

Thank you.

Nice! I like the idea of a let's play for WinSPMBT. I'm eagerly waiting for the next episodes of your series. :D

Since you play as the USSR vs. NATO in 1989 I just want to remind you to not play the long shooting contest with NATO units, especially the ones that have thermal imaging. Instead, try to close the distance (using terrain, fixing units while yours maneuver etc) and fight them from close range (1000m or less). You have bought T80Us which are very good tanks for this strategy, good frontal armor and very mobile, plus they can easily kill any tank in the time frame at the range mentioned.

Anyway, good luck and like I said I will take a look at your series for sure!

Yeah, thank you. :)

Man, I just stopped recording the next episode. I was planning on finishing the whole battle in a couple of hours and have that uploaded tonight *EET. It took me over 5 hours and I am on turn 17 I think out of like 44 limit. Granted there are far fewer units right now than they were earlier, but wow I completely forgot how long the battles can last. Add to that you have to comment on what you are doing which slows everything down... I LOVE IT.

As to how this battle goes, let's just say the Americans apparently like their planes. A lot.
I will post here when the episode is actually up. Probably it will be some time tomorrow as 5 hours of video to render and upload what I assume is going to be a huge amount...I don't even know if it is going to break the YT limits on size. Last episode was 50 min and was almost 8GB...

Thank you. I am glad you like them :)

45+ GB That's the largest file I have ever uploaded on youtube. If the upload speed doesn't drop, the video will be up some time in the next 10-14 hours....ouch.

Re: Let's Play 1989 USSR vs USA

About 14 hours in, 69% uploaded.
A couple of things.
1) I recorded the second part of the battle (the one I am uploading now is the first) and it will be about half the size, which is good. BUT I don't know if I should continue with this size of videos in the future of this let's play. I was planning on going for an episode per weekend, but if I have them much smaller then each battle will take weeks to finish. I don't want that. Decisions decisions!

2) The battle has finished, the last part will be uploaded probably during the weekend. It was a very interesting battle as I haven't played the game for a few years now. Going against the superior (TI and all) American forces was an interesting change from the past. I did make some mistakes, not too many, I lost a couple extra units from stupid unforgivable mistakes, but I plan on not repeating them in the future.

3)Those %$@#$ A-10 Warthogs!

I would suspect the Soviet Army in 1989 would have agreed wholeheartedly.

Re: Let's Play 1989 USSR vs USA

After 26 hours of uploading, the video is finally on youtube. As for this moment (just finished) it is only available at 360p, I don't know when youtube will "allow" the 1080p version. Hopefully not too long as at 360p is not exactly at its best.

Re: Let's Play 1989 USSR vs USA

I don't want to spam the thread, I just thought to mention that 1080p is available. I am not sure when exactly it became available, but I guess it took more than a couple of hours. Following episodes I might wait first before I publish the videos.
So far it is quite an experience.
This episode ( https://youtu.be/lcc7rzdGqyg ) was a 5 hour episode and I just don't think this is long enough. I am joking. I think I am going to make it a daily or semi daily series and have each episode last 30-60 min at most.

The next episode is already finished (under 3 hours long!) and I am going to upload it probably on Friday. It is the second and last part of the actual battle. Following that, from Monday, I will see how things go and release accordingly.
Now, about those A-10s!
