Can DO be modded to be turn-based?

I'm thinking of using DO as an engine for a Dominions-based roguelike (how's THAT for cross-pollination http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif), but most roguelikes are turn-based... is it possible to mod DO to make it turn-based, or at least pauseable realtime where you can target things and use items while the game is paused?
(Also, does DO give cryptic access violation errors like Starfury when you try to mod it and you screw up, or are the errors more sensible, like SE4's?)

I'm not familiar with dominion, but I do like roguelikes a lot, sounds like a fun mod http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/happy.gif

The patched Version of DO is pausable real-time you can pause and unpause the game using the space bar, this will allow you to check monster health and descriptions, browse your inventory and use certain items (i'm not sure what the restrictions are on that, I don't think you can change a full set of armor, but I might be wrong)

True turn based is not possible AFAIK

The quality of error reports for DO varies a lot depending on the error :p. For some errors the game will pinpoint the file and the line that contains the error, in other cases it is not so obvious, but on average I would say it's quite good, and you can always post to the forums if you have an error you don't recognize. All datafile-errors I know of are announced when you first boot up your mod, before actual play begins, so after you made some changes you can easily check wether they will cause any new errors, without having to play half your module. This way you can also limit your search to the new changes you made. The mapgenerator program is also extremely usefull as a tool to spot any errors related to monster, item, or mapgeneration.

Great! I think I might just go and order DO, once I've played around with the demo a bit to familiarize myself with it again! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif

Give Dominions a try... it's a turn-based strategy game like Space Empires, only instead of ruling a galactic empire, you play as an aspiring god attempting to destroy all other gods in a fantasy world (loosely based on real mythology plus one race from the works of HP Lovecraft http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif) via your massive armies of soldiers, mages, undead, etc. (but no elves, dwarves, vorpal swords, or the typical fantasy stuff) http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif It's also available from Shrapnel http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
