Is March release a realistic date?

Some of my wargaming brethren have been saying that "preordering & paying in advance" was not such a wise move due to some "game x" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif taking 5 years etc. I assume that Salvo, being and independant project, is not tied up in the traffic jam so to speak http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/shock.gif. I try to be positive about things but, also well prepared.

Lord Hammer:

Yes, Salvo will be completed in March, and I’m shooting for ‘sooner March’ rather than ‘later March’ but we will see how things go. There are a lot of thighs that go into completing a video game, and some games http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/smilies/wink.gif don’t get any breaks at all. But luckily Salvo is a small operation, and is already close. The only thing that will delay Salvo at this point is making sure that you are getting your money’s worth and that Salvo is a game that I can be proud of.

Thank you for the reply, indeed the game looks truly amazing and most importantly: turn based http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/biggrin.gif. I have been longing for something like this since my boardgame days of Wooden Ships & Iron Men back when...a long time ago http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...es/redface.gif. Keep up the good work, i think you have a classic on your hands!

Please bear in mind that once Andrew turns over the Gold file, the game goes into production (CD stamping, manual printing, assembly, etc). This usually takes a few weeks. Once we have the gold disk in hand we'll map out the schedule and post a release date. That date is generally very reliable because the game is complete, it's simply up to the printers to meet their due dates.
