severity levels
I'm not sure if this has been considered before or not, but an idea that seems interesting to me is different severity levels for matches. Some fights could be with more dangerous equipment, or on more dangerous terms, than others. The manager would have some influence on this, or at least foreknowledge of the type of upcoming match. Higher-stakes matches would of course bring larger crowds, more prestige, and larger purses for the victor, but would involve a greater risk of serious injury.

This sort of thing (or some form of variance for match types) is on the menu for the update 2.0 patch, coming sometime (most likely) in mid/late January.
