British Daimler Dingo, Canadian Ford Lynx and Australian Ford Dingo
Daimler Dingo http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/8840/dingos.jpg I believe the Daimler Dingo Scout, the Daimler Dingo AOP and the Canadian Ford Lynx should all have the same armour, but they don’t. The Canadian Lynx was the same design and armour as the Daimler Dingo, but built by Ford in Canada. http://mailer.fsu.edu/~akirk/tanks/can/Canada.htm Front Armour Here’s a photo of a Lynx without the front toolbox, more clearly showing the front armour: http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/1...anstoolbox.jpg Almost all sources say the Dingo/Lynx had 30mm at the front, which I think must include the hull, because the War Office minimum requirement was 25mm of front armour: http://london.iwm.org.uk/upload/pack...icles/veh2.htm The above site, and most other sites, say the front armour was 30mm. It doesn’t sound like that includes the front hull slope which appears to be between 35 and 40 deg. 30mm plate at a 40deg angle has a thickness of 39mm 30mm plate at a 30deg angle has a thickness of 35mm It may be more accurate to have the front sloped hull at 4cm, and the front flat turret at 3cm. Side Armour I found two sources that said the sides and rear were 12mm, though if it was a half inch then it would be closer to 13mm. I poked around a Dingo last year (and took the top photo), and would say that 12-13mm was about right for the sides. An angle of 30deg with 12.5mm would warrant 2cm, however the sides appear to only have an angle of about 25deg. It looks like the side armour should be 1cm. Rear Armour The rear hull has a slope of about 35deg; and the rear turret is sloped at about 45 deg. This would give the rear hull and turret a 2cm rating. Daimler Dingo/Ford Lynx probably should be: Front 4/3 (hull/turret) Side 1/1 (hull/turret) Rear 2/2 (hull/turret) Current SP Dingo/Lynx Armour British Dingo Scout unit 115 India Dingo Scout unit 115 India Dingo AOP unit 149: Front 2/3 (hull/turret) Side 2/2 (hull/turret) Rear 2/3 (hull/turret) British Dingo AOP unit 149: Front 2/2 (hull/turret) Side 1/1 (hull/turret) Rear 2/2 (hull/turret) Poland Daimler Dingo Scout unit 186 Canadian Ford Lynx Scout unit 115 Canadian Ford Lynx AOP unit 149 ANZAC Ford Lynx Scout unit 160 ANZAC Ford Lynx AOP units 161: Front 1/1 (hull/turret) Side 1/1 (hull/turret) Rear 1/1 (hull/turret) Australian Ford Dingo This scout car was built in Australia, and should not be confused with the Daimler Dingo and Ford Lynx. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi.../59/Dingo1.JPG According to wikipedia it had 30mm front armour and 10mm side armour: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dingo_(scout_car) ANZAC Ford Dingo unit 115 ANZAC Ford Dingo AOP unit 149 Front 2/3 (hull/turret) Side 2/2 (hull/turret) Rear 2/3 (hull/turret) The Aussies replaced the Ford Dingo with the Canadian Ford Lynx in 1944, which is accurately reflected in SP.
