Re: APC Development and related topics.

Ya know, that pixelated cammo does a pretty good job of breaking up the vehicles silhouette. You actually have to look twice to be sure it's a Bradley.

Re: APC Development and related topics.

If you want a modern patrol boat check out the 2023 USMC OOB when it's released.

Re: APC Development and related topics.

As said.
Their relative size looked a bit off.
Maybe just an illusion but the ACV icon looked much longer then the LVT/AAV one not 8.90 vs 7.94, i.e. 112% the length. Maybe the somewhat tapered...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Don, while you're on the subject ... maybe look at the relative size of the LVT7/AAV vs the ACV icons.

LVT
Length 7.94 m
Width 3.27 m
Height 3.26 m

ACV
Length 8.90 m
Width 3.10 m

Re: APC Development and related topics.

AAV's are getting pretty long in the tooth (they were introduced in 1972) and most took a beating in Iraq/Afghanistan. They really haven't been used amphibiously (other then the occasional training)...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

I'm a bit late to the party but ...
Most of the USMC motor/mech formations make use of an infantry and a transport section because of the 10 unit/formation limit.
Can't say as I've ever tried them...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Bubbleheads are a unique group.
And as a group they're some of the most reliable people you'll ever meet. They do any task they're given fast and right. Attention to detail quite literally is a...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

The AAVR7A1 (and similar vehicles) are not modeled in WinSPMBT as they're basically tow trucks/mobile light repair shops.

Re: APC Development and related topics.

We currently have them available in July 2020 (I usually use a mid-year deployment if other info isn't available) so it was a pretty close guess.

I'll add this to my list of things to submit to...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

We also have the advantage of dealing with shorter future time frames then we did. Even with the extension to 2025 we're only looking a few years into the future.

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Apparently the USMC decided to cancel the ACV1.2 (a fully tracked, more seaworthy variant of the ACV1.1) due to the ACV1.1 being able to handle sea-state 3 conditions (the current AAV can handle sea...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

I keep thinking about how happy the guys in M3's and Sd.Kfz. 251's were that they weren't in an unarmored truck, and now we have "APCs" with almost as much armor as a top tier MBT.

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Nothing really new there. Lots of cancelled projects during WW II and while I can't think of anything specific I'm sure there were a good many during the American Civil War.

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Yep.
The idea is still under discussion.
Not sure how it'd be implemented. Increase the squad size to add an AT-man (the way they added the M-79 Grenadier)? Drop one AR or GL (seems most likely)?...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

It's looking like the carry capacity issue for the AAV/SU may solve itself.

The USMC is considering eliminating the anti-tank squad of USMC infantry companies (currently 6x SMAW teams) and issuing...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Since two-man sniper teams (shooter & spotter) are standard since snipers were officially reintroduced I guess we'll just have to be creative!

Re: APC Development and related topics.

Since WinSPMBT treats bunkers as armored units it means any AT weapon is a "Bunker Buster" assuming it has enough armor pen.

This is a bit of a problem at times as VS any opponent with lots of...

Re: APC Development and related topics.

We'll shoot for Jan 2019 on the AAV/SU for now, we can adjust the dates later.

We also have the ACV 1.1 scheduled for Jul 2020 since it's suppose to replace the rest of the AAV7 fleet (presumedly...

Looks like I need to change the introduction date for the AAV/SU to 1/118 vice 1/117.

Thanks sailor!
