Re: Buttoned And Unbuttoned Option

While this sounds all good at first glance, in game the actual effect leads to non historic results. That is, with the mechanic of having the target's spotting ability a factor in the success of a...

Re: the german long campaign is unplayable

Then there are US citizens such as myself who play German long campaign far more than any other country, and while not one of the best players, play with a 25% or more handicap without any major...

Re: German OOB 16 Corrections/Suggestions

PS

Excuse me but your bias is showing.

If you are going to say 'well documented' and 'primary source' then provide references. There is a difference between maximum range that a bullet may...

Re: German OOB 16 Corrections/Suggestions

The Tiefenfeuerautomat system automatically varied the range elevation as the weapon was fired, making it more effective at long ranges by giving a better distribution to the beaten zone. AFAIK this...

Re: German OOB 16 Corrections/Suggestions

The MG34 and MG42 were superior weapons, if you check the actual specifications with the Laffette mount which included integral indirect fire control and the Tiefenfeuerautomat fire control, the 44...

Re: stonne 5/40

After reading your post I decided to play through it again as French. I had a turn or two to spare after grabbing all VH's, lost one tank and took a few infantry casualties, ending with a decisive...

Re: pdf encylopedia and more questions

The German army used recon by fire in some instances. Rommel was a big proponent of it, encouraging it during his command of the 'Ghost' division in France '40. From other accounts though it wasn't...

Re: 105mm M2 Sabot

I can't find the reference but didn't the original workers on the OOBs in question for this use the sabot as a stand in for the field expedient of removing/not-installing of the HE fuse to get a...

Re: Baptism of the Black Brigade

Thanks for looking into this. I've checked everywhere I can think to look and I'm not seeing any output anywhere. Has me stumped.

It contains:

CampaignsRenumberSourceDir=C:\Games\Shrapnel Games\The Camo Workshop\WinSPWW2\Campaigns\

Long path name problems maybe?

Re: Baptism of the Black Brigade

Yes, CD version and fully patched. Windows 7 but setup correctly with game in custom path (C:\Games\...), game works fine - campaignhack doesn't.

Re: Baptism of the Black Brigade

I'm having severe problems getting campaignhack to work. I set the source directory correctly but it doesn't seem to output anything. :(

Re: Baptism of the Black Brigade

Ack!!! I thought I'd fixed that but it looks like I got sidetracked. You're right on the filtered fire, not sure why I put that in.

Well since it has been added to the game, who should fix the...

Re: urban fighting

Large caliber assault guns and self propelled artillery pieces are your friend in an urban environment. Liberal use of the 'Z' key (indirect fire by direct fire weapons) combined with adjacent hex...

There are at least three factors involved in choosing a map size for me: force size, force composition, and opponent. I've never tried to directly relate any of these factors to points although I...

Re: British Long Compaign help

It sounds like you're on the right track though you might consider adding more ATGs into your force mix.

Shermans are just around the corner and that will, temporarily, turn the tide for the...

Errm no, unless of course it is my shellfire. I can see we have very different play styles!

Whenever the situation permits, I employ as much mobility and speed of maneuver as available in order...

Re: distance for company CO and the battalion CO

I'm rather curious that no one has mentioned the A0's role in rallying. I almost always keep a fast vehicle near the AO in order to move him to the 'point of maximum effort' as an additional level...
