Re: The winSPWW2 and winSPMBT Spring Upgrade Offensive Thunders Forward!

Two desires for sometime in the future: Printable topographic maps prior to the scrimmage, even if it's black and white. Online real-time turn-based. Time limited turns would be on mutual...

Re: Looking for a tussel

I can go with 100% inftough if that's going to be a deal breaker but 50-60's NATO/WP is still my preferred mix. I'm quite burned out on M1A2 v T-7,8,9(flavor of the decade)and ATGM's and RPG's...

Re: Have a question about M551 Sheridan ammo selection...

Thx muchly for both responses, I see I have more sniffing about and poking around to do.

Have a question about M551 Sheridan ammo selection...

My experience using M551 Sheridan AR/AAV's in winSPMBT causes me to ask a coupla questions.

I was a Sheridan crewman from '75 until they were phased out of DivCav service in 'late 78, early '79,...

Re: Looking for a tussel

As a retired cavalryman I'd have to consider 100% inftough to be the stupid setting (as in my infantry are too stupid to know to duck when someone shoots at them...).

I tried a rematch against...

Re: Looking for a tussel

Odd that, I started using that setting in response to a thread on this forum a couple of years ago. Folk were beefing that infantry died too quickly.

Re: Looking for a tussel

So, no grognards out there willing to do potluck? On average, the soviet MBT's will outgun (bigger though I believe the US has rate of fire and fire control) and are faster than the US, better...

Looking for a tussel

I'd call myself an intermediate level spmbt'r but have never pbem'd.

Would like a June 1951, 2500 pt us v ussr open country/forested (aka, no urban though towns are okay) meeting engagement,...

Re: MRAPs and a couple of general questions.

Even in peacetime I can attest to this. When our unit transitioned to M1 MBT's, basically, we sucked on our first gunnery after transition training. It didn't help that the qualification tables...

Re: Ya wanna talk moving TO&E target? Well, do ya?

Oh yeah, and the ACR's tank companies moved to the J-series TO&E in the '85-86 timeframe (platoons down to 4 MBT's). Don't know that there was ever and H-series TO&E (platoons with 5 MBT's) equipped...

Re: Time call for small mortars

Even with a 4.2" tube on the platoon net it'd generally take a couple of minutes to get rocks from the heavens on target, even a target sitting on a registration point. Sharing with 7 other radios...

Re: Ya wanna talk moving TO&E target? Well, do ya?

I'll blame late-night bourbon and branch, but at the point where the armor section increases from 3 M551 AR/AAV's to 4 MBT's, lose the infantry squad in toto, in all organizations. We were sad to...

Ya wanna talk moving TO&E target? Well, do ya?

Mid '70's
usareur-based ACR Cav Troop Platoon:
5x M114's, 4x 2 man sct tms
3x M551's
1x M113 and mech sqd (2 X 3-man fire teams, 1 LMG tm, 1 Dragon ATGM tm (all jammed into 1xM113)
1x M106 4.2"...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

Thus the timed turns. Don't need a half hour for a turn on a 2500/5000 pt game. I'd say 10 minutes/turn would be too long. I'd go along with only being allowed to specify preferences, mission,...

Re: Ideas how to improve WinSP MBT/WW2 !

I'd like to be able to go online in the game at setup, seek an opponent, set up a game and play it out online. Perhaps with timed turns either based on points used or by mutual agreement.

Re: M1 Abrams variants

I was part of the last unit in USAREUR to draw original production M1's, the 2d ACR. Early production IPM1s used the same armor suite as the M1 with later production going to what became the...

display oddity

I've installed both WinSPWW2 and WinSPMBT including appropriate patches. The sounds are squirrelly at times but I usually turn them down anyway. My main issue is that while WW2 displays on the...
